Check the o-ring of the coolant hose that goes into the block just under the check valves / intake manifold at the rear of the engine. An o-ring replacement is a lot cheaper and probably the source of problems rather than all the funny reports I've read

This most likely is a leak from the overflow flange due to contaminated coolant
solution flush coolant and refill with mfg recommended coolant

I have a 97 passport and my engine coolant keeps leaking out of a small hole right above the flywheel on the back of the engine block. Is this hole supposed to be there and if so where would the leak...

I Have a 94 Rodeo,3.2l v6 I had the same problem...Yes it is a drain hole..You might have a coolant pipe running under your lower intake if so it's the "O" ring on that pipe..It runs from the upper radiator hose to rear of block...50 cent part. If you are doing it yourself check the other heater hose metal pipe O ring also. towards the front under the thermostat housing. I just fixed mine.I had antifreeze coming out the inspection plates on the trans took off the upper plenium and lower intake and the rubber O ring was shot.Clean out flange use a wire V shaped wheel. make sure the Ring fits Snug on the coolant pipe, dry fit in the flange.( Got assorted sizes at NAPA) put a good coat of Black RTV silicon on O ring,And some in the hole itself press pipe in hole and install the bolts.Allow to set for 3hrs. Again this is on a 94 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 L V6 5spd. Hope that helps you

Oil and Coolant leak of about 11/2 quarts coolant - 1/2 quart oil per night Leak 1 (Coolant) Appears to be coming from the radiator bottom right corner. Leak 2 (oil) Appears to be coming from the engine...

The passenger right side of the car doesn't have any flanges for cooling system, if that's correct then your radiator has a leak or puncture.

The driver side of vehicle has both the in and out flanges for the radiator. Very common to see leak at the drain valve leaking (not closed tightly). In the same area would be bottom flange of radiator which the composite flange is degrading and causing the leak.

The middle part of the bottom engine compartment is where your oil/coolant cooler assembly just above the oil filter. A loose oil filter could be the cause 95% of the time and 5% would be a bad o-ring from the oil cooler to the oil filter flange.

Coolant level

could be coolant leak possibly water pump common for that car. how many miles. think t-belt and water pump. Would be better to do both. or coolant leak from coolant flange on left side of engine under the plastic covers pull covers off both top one and smaller side one you will be able to see coolant flange from that view. look for pinkish or white trail on block below the flange or if you can look on the right side of engine from under car to see if there is a trail on that side on the right side it will be leaking water pump.

Coolant leaking on a4 2002 1.8t

If the coolant is droping on top of the trans, then it is the coolant flange located at the back of the engine then it is the coolant flange, like the person above mentioned. I had happen to my A4. The part is like $20 i believe if you get it yourself, plus new coolant, VW kind. Get the flange and a new o-ring do not try to re-use. There is a DIY for it if you google it : http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84054. I chose to take it to a shop it was 2-3 hours labor. Just make sure they know what they are doing. The spot is a pain in the ***, and if you have big hands don't even think about it. Well worth the pay to a shop!

How to replace the water pump on 1993 oldsmoblie achieva.

2.4 enigine is the harder of the 3 enignes. it will need a timing chain to be removed and a coolant tube in the back of the engine to be removed. this job on the book calls for almost 7 hours.

if its 3.3 or 3100 its alot easier.

3100 is just 4 10mm pulley bolts and 5 or 6 small 8mm water pump bolts.

3.3 is alittle more work, but same concept as 3100 engine. more owkr only cause its in a tighter area.

good luck,
michael
