I also have the same problem. My Civic is a 2004 with about 36,000 miles. I tried rotating the tires, with no change. Any help is appreciated.

There is a Honda service bulletin covering this issue; the affected vehicles are the 2002-2004, and some of the 2005 models.

It is titled "NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT", and was issued Aug 25, '05 - the problem is insufficient clearance between the R engine mount and the adjacent side engine bracket. Got a copy from my dealer - the procedure to repair is inexpensive for an average guy to do.

My brand new 2009 Highlander has this high pitch whining noise right from the start. It happens when decelerating, like if you go on a little hilly road, once you get to the peak and then just let gas...

Your noise is called over-run and its in the gearbox which is also the diff and thats the noise you are getting .
Its the meshing up of the crown wheel and pinion and the only way out of it is to replace the GEAR BOX ASSY with a S/Hand one as you dont get to many doing that noise.
Let me know how you get on. RON

its your secondary air pump. it turns on in the cold morning to inject more air into your exhaust, something about emission. its normal to be high pitched. once on my car it was way loud, i looked and the hose had disconnected. either way its normal if its not super loud. but if its everyone is looking at me loud then check for loose hoses!

Check your power steering fluid level, and system for leaks. May be a bad p/s pump as well. Hope this helps

Loud clicking noise when 4wd is engaged on left wheel when turnin

Check your cv (constant velocity joint) , It may have a big clearance which is the source of the noise when turning left or right and when 4wd is engage. Juts like front wheel drive cars, if the cv joint is with clearance it will tend to sound in the left or right turns. It is not exactly clicking sound , nmore like knocking sound , low in pitch, but not heavy.

High Pitched noise

I had a high pitch noise, didn't sound like it came from the "underside". Turns out it was one of fans that had little chips in the blades? My Audi dealer replaced it, and it's fine now.
