Question about Chrysler 300M

2 Answers

I have a 1999 chrysler 300M. I just had sensor put on for the transmission. I have had the car back a week and now the gas guage sensor or something is not working properly. The fuel light indicator will come on then the gas needle will drop to empty and then the light will go off and the needle will go back to the right reading. Need to know what the problem may be.

Check anything electrical..Coils (one or two could be weak) check the spark plugs and wires...also the trottle position sensor...I'm not sure if your car has one but the camshaft position sensor.

Problem with 1999 Chrysler 300M My Chrysler 300m

If the engine doesn't turn over, it may be the solenoid not operating and not engaging the dog on the starter motor, if you get a healthy clunk when you turn the key but the engine does not turn, could be seized or there could be a transmission lock issue.

I have a 1999 chrysler 300m, my auto stick does not engage [1-2-3-4] why?, is it a sensor.

Nicker- Yes it is likely there is a sensor out, but take a look at the transmission codes first. That will help you alot. Even replacing the two sensors, of which I have written about here before won't work unless you clear the codes- but the codes are important reading if you consider the overall health of your engine and Trans.

99 300m wont shift out of 2nd gear and speedometer does not work,,i get codes p1696 and p1698 ,put new speed sensor in still doesn't work, any suggestions,,or how do you reset tcm

You need a reader that can cancel the trasnmission codes. Look to Advance or one of those parts places. Call to ask them if their ODB tool can cancel Transmission codes first before you go there.

I'm just wondering how easy it is to put a speed sensor in my 1999 300m

It is very easy. Under the vehicle on the driver side of the transmission. The input and output speed sensors look the same from the outside. The input sensor is the one at the forward end of the tranny and the output is at the rear. They both are a beige color and just screw in to the side of the transmission housing.

1999 Chrysler 300m will shut off and will not turn back on.

You have to replace the crank angle sensor and the cam sensor. I had the same problem before and that was the only thing that fixed it, and haven't had the problem since.

Temp guage in red' dummie light on engine not hot

Sounds like a faulty sensor, if the actual temp is 195/215. The ICM is processing the information it receives from the sensor and performs accordingly. A complete diagnostic scan would be helpful in determining the proper repairs needed to correct the problem.
Good luck...i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.
