I have 02 ls that had same problem. It turned out to be the jet pump.It is in the gas tank but is NOT the fuel pump.It is a pump thfeeds the car under a load while the fuel pump feeds it at a idle. Hope this helps you :)

could be a clogged fuel filter, bad throttle position sensor, bad throttle cable, clogged fuel line, bad fuel pump, bad map/maf sensor. have your throttle position sensor and cable checked.

I suspect that the battery is dead and when you turned on the lights there is insufficient current from the alternator to run everything so the ignition shut down. Have a load test done on the battery and check for bad cells as a battery sitting unused for 2 years will be sulphated up on the plates.. Fit new battery and reset the CPU with a code reader.

Start with the simple, if the fuel filter has not been replaced. There may be a good chance that the filter may have gotten to the end of it's life and needs to be replaced. The fuel filter should be replaced 15,000 miles or one a year.

Good luck and keep me posted.

My car acts like its running out of gas when it gets hot

it also sounds like it might be the distributor. Often overlooked until many more pricely repairs.... throttle position sensors have been known issues, I am pretty sure it is by your ignition block/rotor near the throttle linkage coming off the throttle body. If your car is not TBI then forget that last thing... hope this helps! ALSO try PCV valve... you never know and its only about $5.
