Your gearbox could be on the way out plus your engine mounts might be worn.

I have a 1998 Toyota Camry Auto Trans, there is a growling noise in the front at highway speeds when the car is under load, like when going up a grade.

I would advise you ask a local mechanic on this ,it could be anything from cracked exhaust manifold to a blowing down pipe ,the cause for this could a rear engine mounting allowing the engine to swing under load or just the manifold bolts to the head are loose with age which is a common problem on all cars and anything with a engine in fact .

Growling noise from the engine

My guess would be a failing bearing in one of the pulleys.
You could remove the serpentine belt and check the pulleys one at a time to see if you can find the bad bearing.

2004 saturn vue engine growls after it is shut off

Could be the a/c pressure equalizing, or pressure in the cooling system.
You may need to open the hood and listen to see where the noise is coming from.

1988 jeep cherokee stumbles vibrates and hesitates bad

Check the fuses in the power distribution center. Several in the section that is not labeled except for the amp rating, operate the feed for the computer and can make the engine run like that if blown. Otherwise, make sure the ground points are good, that you have everything plugged in and that no wires got pinched between the bellhousing and block when you put it together. Get a manual and test all the sensors as well.

There is a low pitched growling noise coming from the ac compressor of my 2004 grand caravan when engaged at idle. Compressor, belt, have already been replaced twice. Any thoughts?

Are you sure the noise is coming from the compressor and not the belt tensioner or other accessories, when you turn the ac on it put more of a load on the engine. If not since the compressor was changed twice was it properly oiled and the clutch turned manually to insure proper lubrication. I am hoping if it is the compressor that the reciever dryer and expansion valve was changed and the ac system was flushed well, to insure no contamination, or blockage damaging the new compressor.
