Can some guru guy tell us how to fix this problem? I got the same problem on my Z3 1998 2.8L, after remove the battery for a regular clean up on the trunk, my OBC/clock is not working any longer, and just "PPP" is being displayed.

The "PPP" never goes away, does not matter if the car is on or off , the "PPP" is there.

    Please advice.

You need to replace the whole OBC/clock unit. Don't go to ebay. I just checked them out, they want $175+ for them. e-mail me at dain.epperson@gmail.com and I'll pick you up one for way cheaper at my salvage yard. Or, join any of the different bimmer forums online and you can get a plethera of parts for great prices.

How to install rear shocks for 1998 bmw z3

They're not shocks they're struts. It requires spring compressors and air impact tools.

Unless you have them and the know how how to compress strut springs. don't do it. It can be dangerous.

It's why it's a lot of money to have it done.

Check engine light on 1998 Z3 BMW

BMW engine light

Comes on if DME engine management system self diagnostic fault detected. Will stay on until codes are called up and memory erased.

With OBD read the code as follows. Turn on ignition key, press accelerator pedal to the floor five times within 5 seconds. The check engine light will remain on for 5 sec , blik off, come on for 2,5 sec, go off for 2,5 sec and fault code will begin to flash. If more than one fault exist 2nd fault code will be separated by 2,5 sec pause. after fault codes there will be a 0.5 sec flash and light will remain off. to read codes again do procedure again.

Canceling of codes. make sure fault code is present (short blink and light goes out for long period), depress throttle pedal for at least 10 sec. read fault codes again and check for code 1444 (no faults stored.)

Check also the following, fuel pump, oxygen sensor, fuel injectors, engine coolant temp sensor, idle speed control valve, mass airflow sensor and too many other things.

BMW Z3 WRONG UNLOCK RADIO CODE HOW TO GET THE RIGHT ONE

If the radio is displaying code wait, or wait, then the ignition and radio must remain on for 1hour. I would contact a dealer within the USA and provide them with your radio serial number. The serial number can be displayed in the radio by pressing and holding down the "M" button while turning on the ignition.
