Question about 2006 Buick Terraza

1 Answer

Driver's auto sliding door will not power open or shut, then when you shut manually, it thinks something is wrong and will reopen the door. sometimes will not latch...keeps opening thinking there is an obstruction. I have went through the track and there is nothing.

I have a 2005 same deal as you describe, this isn't the fist time. I paid for an extended warrentee only to find that none of the dealerships in the area have a service dept open on the weekend.  It would be noice to know what the reset proceedure is or at te very least a button to shut the infernal dinging off.

We had the same problem with our BRAND NEW 2005v Terazza, took it in numerous times, only to be told there was nothing wrong. Eventually it happened when it was at the dealership, they could not fix it...and gave us a great deal on 2006 Terazza (had to go through GM & write LOTS of letters), now the same thing is starting to happen to the new vehicle! Love the van otherwise, but will never buy another!!

What causes erratic hatch opening and closing?

Hi Robin, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Robin, it sounds like you have something binding in the motor assembly. You see anything that catches and causes a restriction in the movement of the door closing are opening will cause the door to reverse. If you see anything touching the door or the props that hold the door open move the obstruction and it should work properly. If you do not see anything, then the most likely cause is the gear and motor assembly. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Power sliding door closes half way than opens up and does not close

Check for something blocking the upper or lower track. the door is equipped with a sensor that senses that there is something preventing the door from closing and causes the door to reopen.

Sliding driver's side door will not shut on buick terraza

My passenger side door would not close. The mechanic reprogrammed it with the instructions in the handbook. So far it is working OK after one month. Good luck

2002 Honda Odyssey: sliding door jolts/reopens when closing

Please check the aft track roller assembly. It is easiest to inspect from the rear of the van looking forward when the door is open. You'll see the rear hinge assembly clearly. The track rollers cannot be seen but you can pull outboard on the rear edge of the door--the door should not move outboard more than 1/8 of an inch. If it moves out more than this or feels sloppy, suspect damaged/missing track rollers. This will cause the hinge to chatter in the track and "jolt". It will also cause the door to misalign during the close phase preventing the close motor from properly engaging.
Replacing this part is no easy task but doable if you are good with cars. Check back here for more details if you want to try it, otherwise get a competent mechanic or the Honda dealership to do it.

Sliding power doors will not open

Just had the same problem with my '05 van. I put the Master Switch in the off position. I pulled fuse #7 on the driver side sub panel, located just above the engine hood release. I then disconnected the neg. terminal on the battery. I manually opened the pass. side slider and closed it.

I reconnected the battery and replaced fuse #7. I put the master door switch in the on position. I activated the auto door switch, and it worked.

The power sliding passenger door will not open even manually. At first it didn't want to close, but after I slammed it shut it didn't want to open. A few days later I was trying to get the door panel off...

I think you have a latch issue or a latch release issue, pull the door panel and try and release the door latch, pull the latch and try to see what if anything is wrong with it, also make sure the linkage going to the latch from the release handle is hooked up or not otherwise damaged.

There should be a manual shut off switch for the doors. shut off the power to the doors then manual open it. you should be able to overcome any debris in the track. then you can clean it out. it the door is locked and won't unlock, the fuel door may be open or cracked open enough to not allow the door to unlock. there is a lever or switch that prevents the door from opening when the fuel door is open.
