2001 Buick LeSabre occassionally has problems starting. Mechanics cannot find the source, as on two occassions I've had it towed to the shop, but both times it started right up for the mechanics. It seems the car will start, but then quickly peters out and stalls. Other times it simply won't start at all. It cranks & turns over, but won't fire up. Mechanic tested battery, starter, fuel pump, plugs, etc., says are fine.

I had this same problem two times, both were on Oldsmobiles. The first one was the throttle position switch. All the mechanics said this could not be the problem, but it certainly was. The second time I replaced just about everything I could think of that might cause this problem. Nothing helped. I noticed the mechanic was having problems communicating with the computer. So I replaced the computer and it fixed the problem.

That battery lasts very long in these cars because it sits under the back seat so
therefore the temp under the hood would make no difference,
also the thermostat should keep the temp at 190 not 216 that is much too high,
he also said the battery was tested.
i would say fuel filter, clean your maf(Mass air flow) sensor with maf cleaner!(not carb cleaner leaves a film on the resistor witch is bad) also check your coils and coil grounds allong with all your other major grounds, then start looking at all your other sensors like IAT(Inlet ait temp)

Have the same issue with my 2002 LeSabre. I believe an old battery is the issue; the car will start everytime and stall sometimes if the A/C is on. The car will stall most of the times if the engine temperature is over 216 degrees Fahrenheit when the radiator fans are on. I believe the battery is too feeble to carry such a charge and the car will stall before the alternator reaches the needed voltage for the relay to connect it to the car's power lines. My solution is simple and it never fails: turn the A/C off before turning off the engine and if the engine is too hot wait 2 minutes with the hood up. Or change the battery with a good one :-).

You need to see what is missing , spark or fuel ! Some electronic component is failing . Find out if it is spark or fuel related ,then test the electrical circuit . There are some great videos on you tube for basic electrical trouble shooting , an how to read wiring diagrams . You can see free wiring diagrams at http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Then get yourself a DVOM -digital volt ohm meter an test the problem circuit .

This is a very difficult one to pinpoint. The actual plug on the crank sensor could be shorted,The ignition module located under the under coil packs have shorted in some cases I have seen and do what you are saying. There are extensive testing procedures for testing everything from ECM to cam sensor.could possibly as simple as a ground short.I am sorry I cant give you a better diagnosis but suggestyou have someone with experience in wiring trouble shooting.

It sounds like to me that you mite have a bad fuel injector.... try running motor and 1 by 1 unplug each injector harness pluging it back in after each check.. no more than 1 off at a time a good injector slows the motor noticably.. a bad one when un plugged chanes nothing at all..hope this helps

Jetta has no gas pedal pressure

If this car has a carb, the most common problem is the auto choke mechanism get siezed/ gummed up. Remove tha carb plenum in the morning before starting. Depress the accelerator pedal and check that the flap on top of the carb has closed.
