sounds like the ignition tumbler. if it is in park and you can't turn key back its the tumbler will have to replace the ignition tumbler and you can get it re keyed to your old key so it should not be to bad
If you replace the ignition switch tumbler then you also will have to get a new key and that will cost you 2 keys and reprogramming. Cheaper just to get 1 new key and program it from yours or the car.
it would be cheaper to have a locksmith make a key to fit your old ignition lock. I dont know why you didnt do that, before ordering a lock cylinder. Nothing on a MB is cheap. the key is the cheapest thing there is.
It sounds like the classic "switch needs replacing". You only need the tumbler replaced. Before installing the new tumbler take it and your door key to your local locksmith and they can key the new tumbler to work with the old key. This saves you from have to have two different keys.
unfortunatley there is no fix for this just a replacement of the tumbler either take it to a lock smith or you can remove it and take a new one to the locksmith to re-key it to your old key to remove it you have to take off the plastick cover on the bottom turn the key to the acc position on the bottom of the tumbler case there is a small hole just big enough to fit a scratch all point push in the button and pull on the key the tumbler shuld slide out.
drill out ign cyl until you are able to push in the small ball located under ign cyl.you must be able to push ball up.this ball locks ign cyl in column.
