Need to replace timing belt on 1999 Toyota Camry.

    I believe we have the same problem. We have a 2001 toyota corolla and when its idling it idles at 150 rpm. Is it the timing chain or could it be something easier to fix?

If you are keeping the car, yes. Belt is made of rubber. Rubber is 11 years old. I wouldn't drive it far before changing it...

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry CE 4 cylinder, I am having trouble applyinhg tension to the timing belt. I am not sure how that number 1 idler and tension spring works.


U need to losen bolt on tensioner idler pulley make sure their is no slack one the long side of belt (crank to cam)then lightly par on pulley then tighten up then turn eng over by hand 360 check timing and tension
