key will not advance from off position..

This happened over the course of a few days..i'd have to wiggle it, but it would finally turn and start..now it will not turn at all..i'm just thankfull i got it back into the driveway..

a locksmith said it's prolly shot.

A new on is available ...only trouble is..i've taken off all the externals and the 3 support screws,it appears the thing is clamped to the stearing surrounds...How do you get this thing ( ignition switch) off?

    It's a 94 Swift 167,000 miles runs great!..

Sometimes in order to get the key to turn in the ignition you have to wiggle the key back and forth. It's almost like its going to break if your not careful. Also, if the steering column is locked you have to rock the wheel side to side & wiggle the key back & forth really fast to finally get the darn key to turn.

I just had that happen to mine. Graphited the ignition and that helped for a few days. Then the key broke off in the ignition. It was warped. Used my spare to have new keys made. Works fine now.

Ignition wont turn

if you mean the key won`t turn to start the car you may have a worn key and or ignition switch. try another key to see if its the key. also make sure there is not tension on the ignition by way of the steering wheel being turned in the full left or right turn causing tension on the ignition.

Stuck eldorado key in DTS ignition now car won't start

Make sure your steering wheel isn't locked. Sometimes a key won't turn until you jiggle the wheel while trying to turn the key.

Key won't turn in ignition

If your steering wheel is locked, turn it a bit away from the locked position. Key should turn now.

Otherwise, you may need to replace the ignition or you have a bad copy of a key.

1998 Plymouth grand voyager ignition won't turn

I have had this happen on my 98 Voyager. Just have a new key cut. This new key will sometimes cure the problem. The older keys get worn out and won't unlock the ignition. Try this before a much more expensive and time consuming change of the ignition.
