I am having the same problem on my 2003 GMC Envoy. Seems weird I am having the problem the same day that you reported your problem. Do you have a resolution to the problem?

    Great Day All.

I am having the same problem. My key fob doesn't work, the unlock button in the truck isnt working. No lights no life at all, and yes my key is also stuck in the ignition. Its funny when you are not having any problems you dont' read about them, but as soon as I Googled this issue, I see numerous people with the same issue. I will have the fuses and everything changed. I truly hope that all it is because I just dont want to go through the run around of anything else.

Hey. Your problem look to be a battery concert.
if you are sure of the battery is Ok.
Remove the Battery terminal inspect and clean.
And put back the teminals. Tight a little hard.
because one of the problems on this kind if vehicles are the battery conncetions. That came in misscontact.
After all of this . Check all the fuses Include the MEGA FUSES.
Replace as need. with the same rating.

Check the Red wire going to the fuse block. If is nessesary
Go to the autopart and buy a test light.

OK.... I hope this can be a start prosses to fix your car.

I have had numerous problems with like this with my 2005 Envoy. While under warranty, they replaced the ignition switch 5 times.

make sure battery is 12.6 volts. if not you not going to be able to get transmission go all the way in park to remove ignition key.when you press brake pedal it energize brake transmission shift interlock to get transmission all way in park to remove ignition key.if all is good battery is 12.6 volts.sound like ignition switch lock cylinder broken more likely.

2005 GMC Envoy key is stuck in accessory position in the ignition with dead battery and transmission stuck in park. Will replacing battery help or is it security system lock down? If it is the security...

Jump starting the battery may be all you need. If this vehicle was not in park when the battery went dead and when you got in to start it it was dead. You then probably put it into park trying to start it.
But the issue at this time is if it was in neutral when the battery went dead the you changing the selector to park may not actually have placed the transmission in park. With electronic gear selection it actually need power to the system to place the transmission in park.
Without it really being in park the key may move to the lock position.
A bit of quess work here but I hope for you I hit the mark.

Key stuck in ingnition, does not turn all way back

Sticky ignition lock very common this time of year, get some WD-40 and spray it into the lock using the key to work it on and off until it feels free, depends on how bad it is you may need to take of the cover surrounding the lock to free it off. worst case you will need a new ignition lock.

2005 GMC Envoy. Wining sound from under the car at startup.

Hello,
I suggest checking your starter motor. If the starter motor is staying engaged it could be a bad solenoid or a bad ignition switch.

I hope this helps.

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 -15 minutes. Make sure all functions are turned off first, such as HVAC (all switches CCW or off), radio off.
