Maybe check the owners manual an see if a filter is listed as a part number. call the local dealer. google the phase. best chance for a result might be to go to napa or autozone web page and search the part :) my daughter has a 96 esteem so i'll check her owners book and try to post here again , sorry, good luck. : )

Shifting automatic transmission is sluggish

you probably need to get your tranny fluid and filter changed, your filter is probably getting plugged up,get a tranny flush done at a garage or if you plan on doing it yourself, its a messy job.you need to get yourself one of those haynes repair manuals at an auto parts store or on ebay

Does a maruti esteem automatic trasmission have a filter for its gear box and if yes then where is it located

It does not appearso. There are special tools and procedures used to change the fluid in these though. From what I see and given experience, they probably use a flush machine to accomplish replacing the fluid in the transmission. To do it any other way may do significant damage to the unit itself. I have an owner's handbook if you would like one. Just email me at iambanshee74@yahoo.com and I will send it to you via email. No charge.

Automatic or stick? I'm assuming automatic.

Hope this helps.

2001 Hyundai Accent - Automatic Trasmission fluid

It is a proprietary Hyundai transmission fluid. Don't use anything other than the Hyundai stuff. This fluid has superb lubrication properties, but it breaks down much quicker than the specified 30,000 mile fluid change intervals. I highly recommend having both the fluid and filter changed once a year or once every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.

Ya but if nissan planted filter's in there tansmission's then they would grow, right?NISSAN does not install filter's in the tran's.It is a permanent screen and luckily for people all I have to do is undo the plug from the pan and drain while hot, screw the screw the plug back in and funnel your new fluid back in to the tran from the dip stick tube(my 04 sentra 1.8s 4speed automatic takes 5 quart's but holds 6-type D nissan fluid from dealer, change about every 15 to 20 thousand miles to keep it clean and thin.Remember trans fluid is petroleum and get's hot burn's and thicken's making restriction's on rotating metal). My car has over 90,000miles and shift's perfect

How do you check the automatic ytransmission fluid level on daewoo lano 1999 with 1.5litre motor ? also what is ATF fluid capacity?

The ATF level is checked when your engine is at normal operating temperature, your car sitting on a flat surface with your transmission in P mode. Pull out the trasmission dipstick and check the level on it at hot.
Normally the colour of the oil should be quite clear or pink but if it smells burning or is too brownish in colour, your transmission will need a flush and the internal filter replaced as well.
