I turned the steering wheel when the car was off, and now the steering wheel is stuck in a fixed position. I tried to simply start the car, but the key also won't turn. i figured it's just an anti-theft thing, but i can't figure it out. please help, my mother needs the car back in a week.

Hold steering wheel in direction you turned it, force it same way while turning ignition key to on / start position.
Be careful not to break key!

Key stuck ignition wont

This usually happens if your steering wheel is in the rightmost or the leftmost position. Try wiggling the steering wheel when pulling out the key.

1998 Ford Escort steering wheel lock will not unlock. Seems jammed.

The steering wheel was turned when the key was removed. So when you try to turn on the key, turn the wheel one way and the other way to release the pressure on the key. The key should turn ok.
Hope this helps.

1996 isuzu trooper steering wheel won't unlock

Firstly, if your steering wheel will rotate about an inch, while in the locked position, do the following:

1) swing the wheel as far as it goes, then hold it tightly in position (it may want to return back to position, butdon't let it go!)

2) insert key into ignition, and turn key to "ON", not start.

3) see if steering wheel will now release...

Please advise if this works...

If no, then need to go to next step...

Await your response....

Grand prix steering wheel locked key comes out

This situation is called "Torque Lock". The Solution is simply to Turn the Steering Wheel Slightly in the Opposite Direction to remove Pressure on the Steering Lock Pawl. Usually this occurs when turning off the Key while Pressure is Applied to the Steering Wheel from a slight "Roll-Back" or from the Power Steering being forced all the way to it's limit in one direction or the other. Always be sure that the Steering is allowed to relax prior to switching the Ignition Switch to the Locked Position. This is a very common problem most frequently experienced by women rather than men. Let me know if this helps!

The key want turn to start the car

exactly! The cylinder lock gets activated when the key is turned back for removal it releases a pin which will actually lock the steering wheel. Exactly opposite when inserted, First it has to release the steering lock otherwise the key simply wont turn. So it must have got stuck in lock position . Try jostling the wheel and rotate the key towards ignition position. If you hear a small click, that's the release of that pin and the wheel becomes free and the key can also be turned. This assembly must have got jammed or broken altogether and you might have to change the entire keylock..........sodeep

Ignition key is stuck in the cylinder

Did u try turning the steering wheel slightly in either direction? The steering wheel can 'jam' causing the key to seem stuck in the ignition. Simply turning the steering wheel a bit relieves the pressure and the key will turn. Let me know if this works for u

Turn signal switch

'm not sure but I'll put in my 2 cents worth.

I changed a turn signal switch on an older model and it wasn't too difficult. First you have to remove the horn button or top center piece of the steering wheel. There should be screws from the bottom side that you remove to do this. Once you get that off there is simply a large nut in the center than needs to be removed that holds the steering wheel on. [I did not need any sort of steering wheel puller.] Once the steering wheel is off you'll see how the turn signal switch is attached. its simply a matter of disconnecting the wires and removing screws and then putting everything back together. Make sure you get the steering wheel properly positioned. Before you start simply make sure the wheel is positioned in the straight ahead position.
