All of a sudden my AWD light in my Buick Rendezvous 2004 stays on. My AWD light stays lit reading AWD IS DISABLE. What can I do to fix it and is the car safe to drive. Is this a recall problem that should of been address threw the dealer.
Our 2002 did the same thing. Easy cheap fix! Pull the wheel off and check the wiring that goes to the wheel sensor. You will find after removing a few inches of wrap, a broken wire or two. This could be on either wheel, so check both. Fix the wires back up and you are good to go. Hope this helps!
I had the same problem and had it diagnosed at the garage I work for and it was the rear awd actuator on the rear axle pumpkin which is costly to replace and only GM has them also changed the Versatrack fluid and it solved my problem !

SOUND LIKE PROBLEMS IN THE EBTCM OR THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE AND TRACTION CONTROL MODULE.ALL YOU CAN DO IS CHECK ABS FUSES AND RELAYS.IF ALL IS GOOD THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO USE A TECH SCANNER TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
this is a dealership fix.but FIRST check fuse to AWD.if all is good problem could be in transfer case shift control module or problem could be in speed sensors or shift motor.the dealership has diagnostic equipment to check it out and fix it.
3rd dealer stated that the problem was in the differential pump valve, when the temperture sensor was giving a false reading and disconnecting the rear wheel drive. Replaced with GM Part 88896067, and it solved the problem. Mechanic stated that if it is ONLY the AWD light, then this is usually the problem. If the ABS Disable light also goes on, then it is the harness on the wheel sensor.
