Crank pulley bolt tightens clock wise and loosens counter clock wise. You will need a puller to remove the balance as it has a keyway to hold it on.

The 2.2L diesel engine utilizes an exposed crankshaft pulley and a hidden crankshaft timing pulley/damper. The following procedure may be used to remove the exposed crankshaft pulley.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Loosen and remove the accessory drive belts.

  3. Turn the crankshaft pulley to align the timing mark with the engine pointer. This should be done if any further procedures are being performed which might disturb valve timing.

  4. Remove the retaining bolts, then remove the crankshaft pulley.

To install:

  1. Align and install the crankshaft pulley.

  2. Install the retaining bolts, then tighten to 10-17 ft. lbs. (14-23 Nm).

  3. Install the accessory drive belts, then properly adjust their tension.

  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Remove serpentine belt, to remove bolt turn counter clock wise, you will also need a Harmonic Balancer pulley tool, most auto part places will rent this tool out, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

How do replace the alternator belt on a kia 2002 sportage

There is a log bolt that needs to be loosened,but the bolt on the back ,top of the alternator has to be loosened first,then turn the long adjusting bolt counter clock wise,to loosen the alternator to get the belt off,after loosening the long bolt you can pull on the belt itself,and this will pull the alternator towards the engine,then you can remove the bolt.

Timing OK?

You did it the right way. If you tried to make a full cam revolution you would have hit the pistons with the valves. Put the lower timing cover and crank pulley back on. If the cam marks are aligned right and the mark on the lower timing cover lines up with the mark on the crank pulley, you're good to go.

I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS, I am asking how do I know if the timing belt is broken? I was driving on the interstate and it lost power and would not turn over when i tried to crank it

Does not have a timing belt. Has a chain. Jack it up to where you can get a wrench on the bolt on the crank. See if crank turns. If it doesn't the engine is likely locked up.

Hmm, well that would really depend on which belt you got. I would start at the crank, go counter clock wise to the a/c pulley, up to the alternator, then to the idler, next power steering, and back to the crank under the tensioner, there was a longer belt introduced later, and IF you have that belt, same counter clockwise rotation, start at crank, go to a/c compressor, Idler pulley, alternator, power steering, then back to the crank, under the tensioner

Bottom center pulley

at the front of the transmission housing, there is an access plate that you can remove and place a LARGE flat blade screwdriver or pry-bar into the teeth of the fly wheel and jam it against a bolt in the housing. loosen the crank bolt (counter clock-wise). get a Y shaped "harmonic balancer puller" and follow the directions with the tool. good luck!

You may need to get a special crank pulley tool for Honda/Acura. Or you can use an old crank pulley belt and hold it down with a small monkey wrench or something. Then crack the nut counter-clock wise.
