Question about 1997 Chevrolet K1500

97 chevy pick up

I have a 97 Z71 Pick Up and we replaced the fuel pump and now the pick up will not start. I cranks and sounds like it is going to start. When you turn the key on only, it makes a sound for a minute like a clogged artery. It seemed to act the same as when the fuel pump needed replaced. Any suggestions? We were going to try a fuel filter. I replaced it about 6 months ago but thought because of replacing the fuel pump it may have gotten debris in it.

1998 chevy Z71 pick up, wont start. Ive already dropped tank, and checked fuel pump. It works, not getting fuel???

Pump needs to be checked for pressure and VOLUME of flow. It may move fuel but not enough of it.

2002 Chevy truck -Z71 -1500, starts but then dies immediately

Is the security light blinking? It could be a bad map sensor, fuel pump, or ignition cylinder. Do you here the fuel pump for a few seconds when you turn the key to run? You could find the fuel pump relay under the hood, note the direction of the numbers on top, remove it and look on the side of the relay for the pin diagram. Then use a wire to jump pins 87 and 30. Then take the gas cap off and listen for the fuel pump. If you hear it, start the truck. If not, either you jumped the wrong wires or the fuel pump is bad. Good luck!

I believe I have answered this at least twice already. The pick-up coil is what tells the ECU to fire the injectors. If the ECU is not getting the signal then either the pick-up coil is no good, not getting power, or not properly grounded. The same for the must get power, the signal from the pick-up coil, and a ground.

Have you had the computer scanned? It sounds like a fuel injector problem. Injectors may be dirty. Or possibly a fault in the injector circuit. You didn't mention changing the fuel filter. I know some of the Dodges have the filter integrated with the pump. If yours has an independent filter it should be replaced.

Try this. Remove the breather, Carefully tip 1/2 a cup of gas in the intake. Replace the breather quickly. Fire it up. My quess is that it will run fine. The fuel pump is the prob! You will need to lower the fuel tank to change the fuel pump.

97 z71 vortec 5.7 replaced fuel pump.getting fuel but won't start

The # 5 cylinder is miss firing. not getting fuel. Could the injector just be stopped or the crankshaft sensor in gone.
