It is absolutely not the knock sensor so dont waste time and money on it.your stalling condition is due to something else.

My 03 Nissan Xterra is idling weird. It starts fine then goes into a cycle of rpm loops where it climbs to 1800 and drops to 1300 and keeps surging. I ran the codes and got p0328, p0174 and p0420. Any...

po328 is a knock sensor code ,0174 &0420 are emissions codes. Possibly a faulty knock sensor throwing out the timing, It may just have a vacuum leak causing it to run lean, affecting the timing causing knock sensor code, Scan for live readings, ck knock sensor, o2 sensors, A/F ratio & converter, clogged injector ect. Good luck

My 2001 nissan xtera will not keep charge.when I jump it it starts right up and will idle for hours but when I move it it will go a hundred feet and die and it will be completely dead and will not start...

It sounds like the diodes in your altenator are shot. If you can get it to your local parts store, like Advanced Autoparts or Auto Zone, they will test your charging system for free. That will tell you if it's your battery, alenator or both. Hope this helps.

Knock sensor in 2002 xterra se/sc

ok if it is getting spark at spark plugs that rules out ignition, let go to fuel, needs to check fuel pressure and also injector pulsation, if no pulsation fuel will not get into cylinder's, also a knock sensor will not keep an engine from starting, it controls ignition timing once engine is running.

Where is the knock sensor for the 04 nissan xterra located?

Your knock sensor is located undernesth the air intake manifold on top of the engine block. This goes for 2000-2004 xterra V6 3.3L models.

Nissan xterra knock sensor

It's the valley of the engine underneath the intake manifold. It's about an $800 job because the top of the engine has to come off. However, unless you have a supercharged xterra it shouldn't effect performance. Also, the knock sensor will not trip the check engine light, as it does not indicate a primary problem, so if your light is on you should have another code that should be fixed first.
