Have you checked the water pump and connections to it? Just had similar problem with mine and that was it.

ha there i would try changing the radiator .its the only thing left. take out your therostat and see if it over heats if it duse no get hot that your problem.i have a 92 mazda 2600 i for 10 years and i know them insied and out. that how i lost my motor in my truck. the motors are hard to find. if you have any more prolbems let me know ok

SOURCE: what cause your car to
timing to far advanced or the timing belt is on wrong and its too far advanced that way ,ie valve timing alighning with marks but when belt tighted on tensioner the crank has moved

if your vehicle has electric cooling fans it could be that they are not working,if this is the case when you are on the freeway you don't need the cooling fans you only need them when the vehicle is not moving as there is no air going through the radiator to keep the engine cool......hope this helps......cheers.
