2003 Camry 4 cyl. Radiator fans not running when engine is hot. When I disconnect leads to coolant temp sensor, fans turn on. However, the transmission won't shift out of 1st gear when the plug is off.
I replaced the coolant sensor and the fan relays are all good. With no change.
    Any ideas?

my 92 celica radiator fan won't kick in causing overheat condition. got it checked and was told the fan sensor was no good. however i opted to have the fan connected "direct", meaning the relay was put to always have the fan running.

Some toyotas have a coolant sensor NOT to be confused with the Temperature sensor. The coolant sensor is located on the radiator it selt, most likely on the bottom and close to the middle. Replace it and the fans should work as needed. Now a temporary fix, unplug the sensor, this will make the fans run only when the engine is running or the key is on the on position. Good luck.

I have a 91 camry with the same problem. New radiator, new coolant sensor, new relay and the fuse is fine. Not sure what to do so I ran 2 wires. One from the negative side of the battery to the fan plug. The other from the headlight fuse under the hood near the driver side tire to the fan plug. When I turn the headlights on the fan now comes on. Not perfect but it was very cheap. Also, make sure the fan is running the correct direction. With DC power, if you hook the wires up backwards the fan will blow air toward the front bumper instead of sucking air in toward the engine. Fan going the wrong way = overheating.

I have a 1991 toyota camry whats is the main purpose of the 2 fans that facing the radiator and can one work without the other thanks

The fans cool the radiator and the condenser. one fan is the radiator fan and the other is the a/c fan. The can and do operate independently of each other. The radiator fan will work anytime the engine is hot enough for the temp sensor to command it on. The a/c fan will come on when the a/c is on and the high pressure switch commands it on.

If the a/c is not working than it is possible for the radiator fan to work and the other fan not to work.

One of my fan is not working 1999 Honda Accord

Which fan is not working, A/C or Radiator? Check fuses, if good disconnect fan plug, direct wires from battery to fan to check fan, if fan does not work change. If fan works check water temp sensor for radiator. A/C fan only comes on when A/C is switch on. Like wise radiator fan only comes on when water reaches a certain temperature.
