Question about 1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

1 Answer

There is no electricity coming to the fuel pump on my 69 280 SE sedan. When I run a hot wire to the pump, the engine starts and runs nicely. Where do I look for a bad connection or bad relay. Where does the juice to the pump come from? Thanks. John

Sounds like you need a wiring diagram-check all ur fuses-pump might be pulling too many amps and blew fuse-might need new fuel pump buddy-if you find a blown fuse-replace pump, relay, filter and fuse

Car ran completly out of gas now it wont start

GM vehicles do not like to be run low on gas. I'm willing to bet that the fuel pump is bad. Fuel is what keeps the pump cool. No fuel equals a hot pump and it doesn't take much to burn them up. What you can do. 1. Verify there is no fuel pressure. 2. Make sure there is power to the fuel pump (the larger grey wire is the power supply to the pump). 3. Using a rubber mallet whack the center of the fuel tank while a helper turns the engine over. If it starts reach the pump. You only get one get out of jail free card with that trick.

How do u know if a fuel pump is bad

Does it run at all
Have proper fuel pressure
Have proper fuel volume
Have correct Current Draw
Look at Scope Pattern on pump motor
Does it hold pressure when turned off

If it is over ten years old, it is about worn out
It is just a small motor with an armature & bushings

It can fail mechanically or electrically

If you run the tank low on fuel they burn out

Im working on a 1986 toyota pickup 2.4l efi non turbo 4x4 i replaced the head gasket and i have a black wire coming from the intake wiring harness that has no plug on it .if i touch this wire to a hot wire...

Sounds like this wire should operate the electric fuel pump through the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay should start the fuel pump to maintain fuel supply to the common fuel rail and any surplus fuel will be bleed back to tank by pressure control. The injector opening sequence is contolled by computer once the engine is properly timed.
If you say the engine runs for a few seconds it would indicate fuel pump or relay is not getting power to operate or fuel pump is not delivering enough pressure to feed the injectors

How to hot wire 2001 grand am fuel pumo

  1. why would you want to hot wire it?
  2. fuel pump is controlled through the fuel pump relay
  3. relay is controlled by the computer
  4. if oil press is low or if the computer doesnot see an ignition pulse it will turn off the relay.
  5. this is safety concern if the car is in an accident causing the engine to stall a bypass will allow the pump to run creating a poss fire hazard.
  6. ANSWER TO QUESTION
  7. jumper fuel pump relay connections
  8. carefull jumper the wrong terminals and you may fry to computer.

OK i have a 1999 gmc Yukon i just changed the fuel pump spark plugs ing coil control module wires but she still wont crank she starts then shuts off whats wrong HEPL ME PLZ

I suppose that you mean it starts but doesn't continue to run. And if you try to start it right away it'll just crank. The fuel pump is on in crank but not in run ( maybe ). Find the fuel pump relay in the underhood fuse relay panel and use a test light to cheak the pins for power and ground. First with the test light hooked to a good ground, check to see if it works first ( touch the battery positive ) then touch all the pins of the relay ( removed ) One should be hot all the time ( if not the fuel pump fuse is blown) another should be hot with the key on. one of the others will be hot only in crank ( this is the fuel pump) The last other is ground with the engine running after started. The one thats hot in crank put power to it with a jumper wire and start the engine ( it'll run ) the fuel pump also gets turned on by the oil pressure switch and the fuel pump fuse is blown it'll also not run the engine. But it'll run right after it's cranked and quit

93 merc topaz feul pump wiring harness question

The engine computer turns on the fuel pump for 3 seconds when you turn the key to "ON".
If the engine does not start, the pump will not run.
When you turn the key to "Start", the fuel pump runs all the time the key is held in start.
When you turn the key on, it actiavtes the power relay, which provides power to the PCM or engine computer.
The PCM then activates the fuel pump relay, sending power to the fuel pump.
You should have one wire with 12V for 3 seconds in "run" position. This comes from the fuel pump relay to the inertia switch in the trunk and then to the fuel pump.
You should have one ground wire. black
One wire going to the fuel guage.
You may have another ground iwre ging to a diode before going to ground.
