Sounds like you have a bust vacuum pipe somewhere possibly between the vacuum pump and the brake servo
the engine is sucking in extra air which will cause the idle to jump and run erraticly
hope this helps

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. There are a few things that come to mind when hearing your issue. You need to adjust your idle and see if that is the issue. Try turning it up and see if that is why you have low rpms. If the adjust doesn't solve your issue, you may have a bad idle control sensor. You still want to make sure that the battery is good and holding a proper charge. Inspect your battery wires and make sure the terminals are clean and not damaged. Make sure the post are clean as well. If your vehicle is not getting enough power to certain parts, it is going to effect the car in a negative way. Look over your engine and scan it to see if you have a vacuum leak. A simple leak can cause the car to act up. You want to make sure that the fuel filter and air filter are not clogged. You should test to see your current fuel pressure just to see if it can be fuel related. I would lean more to the idle sensor if adjusting the idle does not work. I am concerned about the battery and alternator light though. Even if it is at low idle, you shouldn't be seeing them. Make sure you check out the battery and the wires, from the battery to the alternator. If it is possible to get codes off your computer, by all means do so. This may lead you to the root of the problem. I know it is a lot to check but anyone of these parts can cause your issue. Feel free to ask any questions you wish.

Oil in air filter wot causes this car in qustion is a jag xj8

This issue is caused by crankcase pressure issue.
Normally filtered air enters the engine, runs through the crank case and then is pulled into the intake through the PCV valve. Durning hard acceleration, the PCV valve closes (to prevent explosion of fumes in crank case and blowing valve covers and pan off) and the PCV system reverses, with fumes coming back through the filtered intake.

Usually there is minimal oil that gets back into the air cleaner.

So, when somthing goes wrong, like excessive blow by, for example, the crankcase pressure overcomes the PCV valve and intake of fumes capability, and oily starts showing up in the air filter.

Investigate the crankcase pressure and PCV system.

2002 Buick Rondevoux 3.4 V6. Makes a noise from the engine like a buzzing sound. Sounds seems to come from power steering pump. I had it changed twice and still have the sound. Car is quit for twenty...

The GM 3.4 v6 engine is known to have Intake manifold gasket failure problems. IMHO, I do not believe this is fuel pressure release valve problem, since you would have fuel leaking. If it is more of a whistle rather than buzzing, i would suspect manifold gasket.

'03 Jeep Liberty starts weakly and needs gas pedal to idle

Turning over is what the starter does to the engine can turn an engine over with no spark plugs in it...but you can't start it. Turning over is cranking .....the starter turns (cranks) the engine over (comes from when you had to put a crank in the front of the engine and crank it.)
Does it crank normally but has trouble starting???????

Sounds like a large vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator failure, idle air control valve stuck open, plugged fuel filter. Also check for good consistent blue spark at spark plugs or jumped timing chain.Hope this helps!
