Temp gauge doesn't move and heater blows cold air and when I accelerate the gauge goes up and it starts to blow hot air. I'm not losing any water and coolant looks good as well as the oil so i've ruled out the head gasket. possibly the thermostat?

MY TEMP GAUGE STAYS COLD WHEN IT USED TO READ AT A 1/4 WAY UP, HAVE CHANGED RADIATOR, HOSES, THERMOSTAT, AND TEMP SENDING UNIT.
IT OVERHEATED 2 DAYS AGO AND NOW HAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, THE TEMP GAUGE NEVER WENT OVER THE 1/2 WAY MARK.
I NEED THIS WORKING PROPERLY, ANY IDEAS?

Replace the engine cooling system thermostat and retest, this is a common problem.

Tempature guage only going up a quarter of the way.Engine light on.It happened all the sudden when it got 20degrees in florida

I was going to say it should be covered under the factory warranty, but not if its a 2000 Ford. I would check the thermostat.

Heat stopped working in 2000 pontiac sunfire

With blower on high and tempature to max heat check to see if you have good air flow in all mode selections (defrost, vent, floor etc.). If so and you still have no heat then check heater core hose going from engine to inside car to heater core with vehicle running and coolant tempature about half on guage. If both hoses are hot and coolant in radiator/overflow bottle is full then hot cold blend door is stuck in cold position. If coolant level is low you will get no heat, check coolant level first.

I have a 2001 chevy impala my tempature gauge completely quit working 2 days ago and my gas gauge is all over the place i dont know if its full or empty.. most of the time it stays at half or a little...

It sounds like the voltage regulator for the insturment cluster is malfunctioning -- that's why you got the recommendation to replace the instrument cluster.

If it were just the temp guage failing, the problem could be a faulty temp sending unit in the engine block. However, with more than one guage failing, it sounds more like an insturment-voltage- regulator problem.

An instrument cluster would contain the voltage regulator.

It's possible that the voltage regulator cold be repaired and an entire cluster would not be needed.

More info, please let me know.

2000 Toyota avalon. The engine tempature guage is not working. I have checked all the fuses and all are good. I assume there is a tempature guage wire comming off the engine to the guage somewhere but do...

I"d say you may have a bad coolant temp. sensor or a bad/faulty wiring connection to it. It should be located near the housing where your thermostat is located. Follow your top radiator hose to find the location.

Tempature guage stays below cold & heater stopped blowing hot air

sounds to me like you have a thermostat that stuck open ,I recommend pulling the thermostat and inspect it for sticking open .you have got to have a engine that up to normal operating temp to get good heater performance

My temp gauge reads only a quarter hot.when i tow a trailer or use my air my temp goes past half and my engine light comes on.

I would supect you actually have two problems going on here. First off it sounds like your guage is reading inaccuratly. When it is reading at one quarter it probably should be at the half way point. This is the normal operating range. The most likely cause is the temp sensor for the guage. When you pull a trailer and engine gets under a load the tempature sounds like its going up too high. Your engine light comes on because it uses a different sensor and is registering accurate tempature. I would start by comparing actual tempature of engine with what the guage reads, this can be done with a scanner or a heat gun pointed at the thermostat housing. I believe you will find a faulty sensor or possibly an outside chance of a bad guage.(but doubt it!)Once that is straightned out you will have to look at why is the engine getting too warm under load. I would start with radiator flow,A ristricted radiator either internally or externally will cause this. Good luck!
