Question about 1986 Ford F150 SuperCab

1 Answer

1986 ford f-150 extended cab xlt (302eng.)

When I try to start the truck sparks fire off the line side. What are the other wires that are on the line side besides the wire from the battery? Is this a common problem? Can I remove the other wires from the line side and hook the battery wire back up and still be able to start the truck? I lost my manual to the truck, is their any place to get free wiring diagrams?

I am not clear on what the term "line side" means But mostly sparks mean a short to ground or loose connections.

88 e-150 302eng.have put new distributor, coil, module(on side of dist.)rotor,cap,wires.all it does is fire 1 spark when first turn over and most of the time 1spark when it stops, but never any where in...

Sounds like the timing is way off, get the #1 cylinder at TDC, then reset the distributor back in with the rotor at #1 on the cap, get it started and adjust timing from there. Also check the ignition switch and make sure its not damaged and making good contact.

1986 ford club wagon xlt in line 6 300. Doesn't fire. Has spark, getting gas, repaired broken wire going to the module. Put coil and different distributor in. Wondering if it could be in the ignition...

If it has spark and is getting gas then there is no reason why it should not start. How do you know it is getting gas?? Have you tried using wd40 directly into the carb/intake to see if it will try to fire up?

I need the firing order of 06 ford f150 xlt reg cab 4x4 v8(5.4l) its say on my scanner misfire number 6 cylinder

Cylinders 1-2-3-4 are on the passenger side. 5-6-7-8 are on the drivers side.

Check the spark output on the number 6 coil by removing it, installing a spark tester, and start the vehicle. If there is no spark swap the coil with the #5 coil. If it still doesn't spark replace the coil. Very common for them to go bad.
