Try resetting your computers. this is very easy to do. pull your negative termal for about 30 mins. put it back on then let the car idle in park neutral then drive then if it's an option with out your over drive then back in nutral. do each for a min. if it's a manual make sure your e brake is on and skip park.

John, first make sure it is not floor mat or carpet holding gas peddle down causing throttle issue. If all looks good there, would suggest you check throttle cable for being seized, throttle body seized or return spring faulty/broke. You may want to contact a good Tech, have them diagnose and estimate repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Revs high when i change gear

Is it possible the clutch pedal is interfering with the throttle? Start the engine in neutral and allow it to idle. Press only the clutch pedal down and see if this increase the engine speed. If it does speed up the engine and slows back down when you release the clutch then somehow this operation is where your fault lies. If it doesn't alter the idle speed, then rev your engine and release the throttle to see if it returns to idle immediately. If it is slow to return to idle then your throttle cable could be sticking. This means when you change gear lifting off the throttle has little effect and depressing the clutch to change gear causes the engine to race as the throttle is still partially open.

I started My 2001 Jimmy and stepped on the gas. The pedal went to the floor and is stuck. The engine just revs and I'm afraid it's going to blow.

your throttle cable is getting stuck or either the butterfly inside your throttle body is stuck open. Check these and see if either can be freed.

sounds like you are having problems with the throttle valve cable trying to stick. check to see with the engine turned off to see by pressing down on acclerator pedal to the floor and releasing it quickly. if it shows to be slow in returning then you need to replace cable on throttle body. hope this will help you!!!

Stuck gas pedal cause the car not to start

Yes, if the gas pedal is stuck fullt down the Throttle Sensor located in the throttle body will note the throttle position and shut down the fuel injectors. If in the future your fuel injected car becomes flooded, hold the gas pedal down and turn the engine over this will help free the engine of too much fuel.

I hope this may have assisted you,

your torque convrtoer is shot. it is the at the front of the tranny to transfer motion from fly wheel ( engine side) to the trans. its a fairly cheap and easy fix.
