Your not going to like this. There is obviously a nasty short in your car. Since it happens when you turn on the lights, that atleast tells you where to look. The bad thing with that is that system while not all that complicated, Extends from the very back of the car to the very front of the car. I would start with the dash then move to the engine compartment. look for any burnt, melted, or stinky areas. You may get lucky if you have some one with there head under the hood when you turn on all the lights. They may see, smell, or hear where the short occures.

Could be caused by a corroded central grounding point or a blown fuse.

It's normal for the instrument lights (including the overhead panel) to dim when headlights are turned on but this should not affect the dome or courtesy lights.

Headlights do not go off so battery went dead. Also dome light does not respond to drivers door

Never rely on the door switch to shut off the lights.
That is always an extremely unreliable system on any car.
Whenever you shut a car off, turn off everything. That includes radio, AC, fan, etc. Otherwise you are putting a great strain on your battery when you next try to start it.

more than likely it is the headlight switch. All of the lights work off from it. My dads 97 chev would shut off all the lights after shutting the door. Then you would come back later and the interor lights would be on again and run the battery down.

The dome lights and headlights blink off and on. I can't drive car at night because of this. There seems to be a buzzing noise coming from the headlight area.

If both the headlights and dome light are affected i would suspect the haedlight switch. That is the part that would be linked to both issue. Door jam switchs would affect the dome light but not the headlights.

Interior dome light stays on while driving

Your dome light switch in in front of the driver's seat where the headlights are. It is possible that switch is bad as it should be both a turn knob switch, and by pulling on it, it becomes a head light switch. You may have to replace it.

Dome lights

You don't have the dome switch in the on postion do you? If not, the headlight/dome switch may be the problem. It's very seldom that the door pressure switch is the cause of this problem.
