The radiator fan does not switch on automaticly when the car reatches max temprature. Tested the fan, it is wortrking when I unplug the censor on the airfilter housing. What has the censor in the airfilter housing to do with the radiator fan. How do I fix the problem? Thanks Bertus

Sensor in air filter is one of MANY that's connected to your cars computer. I suspect the sensor your looking for is aux fan sensor which is mounted on side of your radiator. It's a brass fitting with electrical connections coming from it.

1993 toyota pick up temperature gauge problem

Or the thermostat might be faulty which raises the temprature at which the thermostat starts to open. Giving a high reading on the gauge. if it gets too hot you might be at risk of blowing a pype or head gasket. If so replace thermostat. Check for a loose wire to the temp sensor as well. See if the radiator fan turns on when temp rises. If not check a fuse or the radiator fan temprature switch might be faulty.

Fan under passenger headlight wont turn off--turbo fan??

This does not make sense. The turbo is driven by exhaust gasses. I think you are referring to the thermo switch on the radiator. The car can be switched of and the fan will still run till it reach temprature and then only will it switch off.

What tells the fan to come on

One or more temprature sensors sends a signal to the cars computer. When a certain temperature is reached the computer sends power to a relay that sends power to the fan. The fan will also come on when you turn on your air conditioning.

I have never seen the radiator fan working for

Well the first thing I can tell you is that the radiator fan should kick on as soon as you turn on the a/c. That's because of the extra strain it puts on the engine. So, if you don't see or hear the fan go on with the a/c, it's probably dead. You could also unplug the fan and run a jumper wire off of the battery to see if it goes on.

Peugeot 306 hdi w reg

It does have a fan switch, it looks like a bolt head with 2 wires on it. It will be on the radiator near the bottom. Connect the 2 wires together to test the switch.
