It will turn over but not fire. I am trying to figure out if this could be the key or the ignition switch. The key does have a computer chip on it.

I can tell you that you have an electrical problem. take it to a mechanic and ask him to check your battery. it may need replacing. the other problem could be your alternator. it may not be charging the battery. try this, after you start the car disconnect the negative side of the battery and see if the car shuts off. if it does, that means that your alternator needs replacing. an other possibility is that you have a drain. take it to a mechanic to check it out.

Series II 4.0 litre V8 Land Rover Discovery runs but stalls out after a few miles. The vehicle restarts after cooling down it seems. This generally takes a couple of hours or a tow back home. Service

Sounds like the same issue I had with my 2002 Discovery 2 V8. Mine used to run for about 10 minutes, then die, usually in the most inconvenient locations! The Crank sensor is in need of replacement. It sits near the exhaust downpipe (behind a heat shield) but obviously this shield isn't enough as they die after about 80,000-100,000 miles. Just get it replaced and I think your issues will solved.

sounds like you have a security problem, (antitheft) , when it acts up take the key and put it in the outside door lock switch with the door shut and window down and lock and unlock the drivers door with the key,it should quit, if not try locking and unlocking car with key fob(remote lock, unlock switch on key chain), if that dont work , you have further prob. with security system and take it to a shop. if it quits with the key process and then comes back on , the sensitivity might be to high. does the horn go off with the lights?

My van will crank but will not start it has fuel and spark but wont start. it sounds like it wonts to but it wont run. i was driving it when it quit and would not restart

Without being there to see for myself - my immediate thought is timing chain and or gears. How many miles on vehicle. At this age it is not uncommon to have worn out components such as a timing chain.

use this link. I used it for my 96 camry to replace the fuse. It worked great. My windows and lock quit. I dont have a sunroof. I replaced the fuse and it was fairly easy even though it is hidden. It took me about 25 minutes to do it all. Hope this help!

Car quit and wont restart

It could be a any or a combination of failing components. If you haven't changed the fule filter recently (say within the past 20,000 miles) I'd change it first. Next. check the fuel pressure at the service port near the injectors to ensure you're getting the right fuel pressure to the injectors.
