Need wiring diagrams for removing and replace distributor for 1996 Dodge 1500 502L truck. Replaced water pump, truck won't start, no noise when truck turned on, will not start, fuel injected to engine (smell underneath hood). I removed battery and put back, so can't check codes. My 92 Accord LX stopped running, I replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel pump and car still won't start

You will need to check for spark disconnect a sparkplug wire at the distributor and leave a 1/4 air gap, crank the engine, do you see a spark,if you have spark then solve for no fuel this can stem from a needed fuel pump that has failed.

1996 chevy silverado v8 4.3 won't crank. Replaced

Check the voltage coming from the battery and check it again at the coil.I suspect you are not getting the proper voltage going through. Clean all the terminal ends to bare shiny metal and make sure all the connections are tight. If I remember correct your truck still has the HEI setup with the coil in the top of the distributor cap. If all the voltages are good, 12+ volts you should replace the coil. Hope this helps.

I HAVE A 95 CHEVY SS IMPALA LT1...SOME DAYS IT START AND SOME DAYS IT WON'T...MY WATER PUMP IS LEAKING...DO U THINK WATER IS GETTING TO THE DISTRIBUTOR SHORTENING IT. WHEN IT DO START AFTER IT WARMS...

this sounds like it could be the water pump causing the problem as it is a common problem with this set up.when the water pump is being changed have the distributor cap, rotor, and wires replaced and have the distributor itself checked for damage caused by the pump leak.

Changed the water pump on my 318 ande now it wont start

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

There can be disconnected wires somewhere that's why the car won't start. I strongly suggest that you check all the wires specially the one's going to the distributor. Or the coil pack has reached it's break point that's why the car won't start. If the coil pack is faulty, there will be no current to the plugs. You will need to have it replaced to resolve the issue.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Dodge Intrepid 1996 Water Pump Replacement Needs

a timing belt. the water pump uses it to turn it and you got to take it off to change the pump anyway so you might as well get a new one.also the hydralic timing belt tensioner should be replaced at the same time just to be sure.you will need anti freeze of course as well

The opti-spark distributor cap is below the water pump.
Often a leaking water pump will cause a short in the distributor
Due to the amount of time and labor cost to remove the water pump, and that fact that the water pump has to be removed to replace the distributor cap, it is a good idea to replace the distributor cap at the same time the water pump is replaced. The water pump is driven by a pinion shaft with an " O " ring. Be sure to replace the " O " ring too else you may shortly develop an oil leak at that point.
