Question about 1996 Subaru Impreza

2 Answers

My 98 Subaru Impreza had a tire blow out. Now the tire shop wants to replace all 4 tires. Is this necessary? I could understand 2 but not 4. Called the Subaru Service Department and they said a single new tire could not be more than 1/4 inch difference and exact same tread type for replacement or I did need all 4 replaced. Any advice?

Yup, it's not just the tire trying to sell you more tires, it IS recommended unless the tires are like brand new.

I had problems that MAY have been worsened by doing this in my 96 Imp Outback, and I've made sure I did all four at once ever since. You could always keep some of of the other three as emergency spare tires to use instead of the plastic doughnut!

You need to change all the 4 tyres since because you have got a car for a smooth ride if u just change only 2 or 1 u wont be having a smooth ride which ll make life risk also so my advice is better change all the 4 tyres.

I am experiencing shimmying on the right front wheel of my car when I drive over 50 mph. Seems more than just being out of alignment. Suggestions?

you could have a bad tire or balancing is needed, you would need to move the tire to rear and see if shimmey goes away, if it does then you know its a tire, hope this helps.

Can I put 215 60R/15's wheels on a subaru impreza that is supposed to take 205 60R/15's?

You are only going 1 size bigger, shouldn't be a problem. You may experience occasional noise from tires bumping the body if you have a heavy load in the car or maybe the tires rubbing when you make a sharp turn but that should be about the only difference. Hope this helps.

Mouse debris in the defroster

Taking the blower fan down would give you access to the heater. And mice can crawl through a hole as small as 3/4", check anywhere around your car for holes 3/4" or larger. They can climb on your tires and up in your engine too. Also check the vent between the hood and windshield.
