Question about 1993 Ford Aerostar Extended

1 Answer

Sons 1994 escort GT runs fine but frequently when he goes to restart it there is no power to the lights, radio, instrument panel ect. and obviously it wont start. If he tries again a half to an hour later it will usually start. Do I have a main fuse problem or a bad battery cable or what?

I have a 1994 Ford Escort wagon. The radio isn't

check for fuses under the hood? and I think that the wires are memory illumination power and acc./ ant. probably a momentary hot controlled by the radio itself. used for factory amplifiers and electric antenna. so you should have...
the constant hot (memory)
only hot when lights are on (ill.)
only hot when radio is turned on (amp / ant)
and switched.
thats why I think there must be a fuse under the hood
I'll look for a diagram and post back. what I find

A digram for the factory wireing for the radio

This color code works for 87-93 mustang factory radio; it might work on yours as well. I'm not sure if it has the same fuses though.

Radio Connector:

Light Green / Yellow - Hot at all times (Fuse 8)
Yellow / Black - Hot in ACC or Run (Fuse 11)
Light Brown / Red - Goes to instrument panel dimming rheostat (Fuse 4)
Red - Ground
White / Purple - Hot in ACC or Run (Fuse 11)

Speaker Connector:

White / Light Green - (+) Right Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Dark Green / Orange - (-) Right Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Brown / Pink - (+) Right Rear Speaker
Pink / Light Brown - (-) Right Rear Speaker
Pink / Light Green - (+) Left Rear Speaker
Tan / Yellow - (-) Left Rear Speaker
Light Brown / White - (+) Left Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Orange / Light Green - (-) Left Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Hope this helps.

Blower moter will not work

Check the 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the instrument panel on the drivers-side. If it's alright remove the connector from the heater resistor mounted on the passengers side close to the blower motor. These are usually secured with small hex headed screws. With the ignition switch in run, turn the heater on and use a test light to see if you have voltage coming to any of the connector pins. If you don't you'll need to trace back until you locate the problem. If you do have voltage check the resistor. Don't forget to turn off the ignition switch.

I need to know the radio code for my ford escort 1994.

take your radio out and it should have a couple of numbers on the back.
The serial number and manufacturer number.
There should also be the original code for the radio which was set into the radio itself when it left the manufacturers.

Radio wiring

The factory wiring connector hook-up for the Mustang is:

Radio / Power Connector:

Light Green / Yellow - Hot at all times (Fuse 8)
Yellow / Black - Hot in ACC or Run (Fuse 11)
Light Brown / Red - Goes to instrument panel dimming rheostat (Fuse 4)
Red - Ground
White / Purple - Hot in ACC or Run (Fuse 11)

Speaker Connector:

White / Light Green - (+) Right Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Dark Green / Orange - (-) Right Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Brown / Pink - (+) Right Rear Speaker
Pink / Light Brown - (-) Right Rear Speaker
Pink / Light Green - (+) Left Rear Speaker
Tan / Yellow - (-) Left Rear Speaker
Light Brown / White - (+) Left Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Orange / Light Green - (-) Left Instrument Panel & Door Speaker

Your best bet is to buy a radio install kit and adapt it to the Mustang connector. Hope this information helps.
