Question about Ford F-150

1 Answer

2005 Ford F150 s cab. The truck has been to 2 mechanics and they seem to be stumped. The truck will shake and shimmy and the only way to stop this is to stop the vehicle and put in park and start all over until it happens again. I've had the stabilizer bar link replace and an alignment and Drive Shaft and Universal joints checked . But nothing has changed?

My 2005 ford explorer shimmies . Iput four new tires and new wheel bearings in the front whats next

Have you checked your U-joints? A bad U-joint can shake your whole vehicle. Is it possible that one of your wheels may be bent? Did you check your tie-rod ends and ball joints? Does it shimmy all of the time or at just certain speeds? If you have been off road check for mud build up on the inside of your wheels.

I have a 2005 ford f150 stx with a 4.2 liter v6. When i shut it off the motor shakes from side to side quit a bit. Motor shuts off fine but rocks a lot. Just wanted to know if this was normal for a 4.2...

The shaking is not normal. It should just shut down and stop rotation smoothly. It almost sounds like you are experiencing preignition possibly without the knock. Try a different mechanic or consult you local Ford dealer and speak to the service writer. Something is not correct.

I THINK THEY MAY HAVE DAMAGED THE PLUG WIRE BOOTS, TAKE A LOOK AT THEM AND SEE IF THE RUBBER BOOTS ARE TORN OR DAMAGED, CHEAP TUNE-UP SHOPS ARE FAMOUS FOR CAUSING THIS KIND OF DAMAGE, THERE IS A SPECIAL TOOL TO REMOVE THE WIRES WHICH GET STUCK TO THE PLUGS, MANY YOUNG KIDS DO THE WORK BUT DON'T EVEN KNOW THE TOOL EXISTS.
