Location of #1 piston on 2005 ford taurus

There are three variations of the Taurus engine. All are 3.0L in size. Leave it to Ford to make things confusing. All have the same piston location, although one model has coil packs and the other has coil-on-plug. Here is a diagram showing the piston position and firing order.

Changed plugs and coil pack running rough on tickover and starting off. When at a certain speed car running fine

I would check all the wires going to the coil packs. Sounds like a plug is only firing when it wants to. But once your up and going you do not need all pistons to keep you going faster and faster.

Misfire on cylinder 1 ford taurus 2000

You will have to change the cylinder piston; the ring around the piston is what causing this to misfire. As you can see, every time you remove that one spark plug, to look as liquid is been spill on it. The ring around the piston is damage and the cylinder is not burning the oil and gas as the spark plug send fire into the cylinder. contact your local mechanic for hands on help.

I get an error code P0302, miss fire on cylinder 2 detected. Wires and plug have been replaced. What else can cause this problem? Thank You for your assistance.

Burnt valve, blown head gasket, hole in piston, broken piston compression ring, bad coil if this engine has coil on plug configuration.

I have a plymouth breeze 1999 model 2.4 engine. It is not firing on pistons 2 and 3. On top of that ,the ignition coil pack on the 2and3 pistons is getting so hot so that the rubber on the two points is...

this could be the ignition coil on the 2-3 side of the coil.inspect the connector on the coil to make sure it is good.if the coil has been this hot replace it(used one)as there will be other internal damage to it.these coils are grounded through the computer and supplied power with the key in the on position.the computer grounds the circuit for the cylinder that is to be fired.these also have coil drivers in the computer which may have shorted out.have the system checked out first before replacing parts as if its a shorted driver then it will take out the replaced coil.

What does the ignition coil do?

the ignition coil changes low voltage from the battery (12 volts) to high voltage (about 50,000 volts) to fire the spark plugs and ignite the fuel in the engine cylinders and drive the piston down

No power to the# 7 spark plug coil

Did you change the spark plugs? The engine computer fires these coils. Are you sure you got the correct coil that was bad?Try swapping the coils with another to see if problem moves with the suspect coil.If your scanner will do it, use the cylinder balance feature to pinpiont weak cylinders.
