my check engine light is on steady. My gas cap was not on properly. I tightened it and drove about 10 miles but it is still on.

I have the same problem. This is the second time I have had it. Seems there is an ongoing issue with these vans - they have to reset it at the dealership. They told me to do the same w/the gas cap, but like you, it did not work.

When was the last time you had a tune up oil, filters, belts(timing belt)
The book said change it around 70000miles give or take but get it changed at 60000 or sooner (timing belt)

Have had this problem more than once.

1. When you fill up with gas make sure you click the gas cap at least three times according to the manual.

2. When you have your oil changed make sure they push the reset button. Just tell them and they will know what you mean. If they dont, it can cause the check engine light to stay on.

3. Check your oil that can cause it, if the oil is low.

See if any of these work, they have for me in the past.

Good Luck!

FUEL FILLER NECK ON BUICK CENTURY NEEDS REPLACING. CHECK ENGIN LIGHT ON?

I am not sure I understand what you are asking but I will tell you that is you have a faulty fuel cap or a leaking fule filler neck, this can cause a check engine light to come on. I have seen people leave the fuel cap too loose and the light come on then Screw it tight and the light goes off. Hope this helps

After filling up the fuel tank (tank was low on gas), engine light comes steady on. After about ten minutes driving the vehicle and atempting to stop engine stold and battery light would come on.

battery light will come on when engine stalls but should go out when engine is restarted.
suspect dirt in fuel system sucked up by low fuel level from fuel tank engine ligth may have been indication of fuel starvation.
if not then
suspect battery is not being charged properly
check battery condition
check that generator is charing battery.
to test battery try starting the engine with lights on if battery is low the engine will not turn and the lights will dim.

If that fixed the problem, the light will go out after three good trips. If that wasn't the problem, you need a scan tool to tell you what it is.

Check engine light on - steady, not blinking. The manual says the gas cap may not have been put on tight (didn't seem to make the light go out) or that it's something with the emissions system?

I had the same problem , 99 subudu code po420 , the problem was air leaking into the fuel system , cause was from the gas filler tube to the gas tank. it was rotted so i replaced the filler tube( thats where you screw your gas cap onto and it goes down to the tank ) and cleared the code and haven't had a problem since.
