Mirror glass fallen off

There is a thin wire that wraps around the mirror and mirror motor that returns to clips at spot closest to car door. If lost and you can't fasion another you can glue mirror to motor.

Drawbacks of glue:

1. If too strong you will never be able to do any other repairs on mirror or its motor.

2. If too loose, mirror is likely to fall off in traffic.

Consider buying an aftermarket full mirror assembly or one from a junkyard.

I havbe a 1997 town car signature series that the rear view mirror is loose on. I'm looking for step by step instruction on how to tighten the mirror so it is tight again.

They make the mirrors with several styles of fasteners. Usually there is a screw "plug" called a set screw. This usually has a Hex shaped recess in the part and you simply insert a Hex key and lightly snug the set screw by turning it clockwise like most screws you would be tightening.

The reason I said "lightly" is that the part that is on the windshield is glued on. They are forever coming detached from the windshield. So reefing on the set screw will probably cause the glue to fail. It is better to have to tighten the mirror several times a year than to have to get a glue kit and remount the base to the windshield.

There is also a mount which depends on a spring tab beneath the mirror to lock the assembly in place. If you have this type of mount, it is not adjustable. But you might be able to put a drop of glue on the surface seam to take out the rattle and the mirror should no longer vibrate.

I hope my info helps you.

Loose screw rolling around in side view mirror assembly 1999 mazda miata

Usually the mirror is 'glued' to the moving parts of the inside. Most of the time one will need to remove the mirror and re-glue it back.

To repair a displaced rear view mirror. Does the flat base needs a glue? Does the mirror detaches from the metal base? If so, how do I detach it. Please help

mirror is screwed to metal plate w/screw or allen wrench. Glue go to metal plate then to windshield. Let it sit overnight or longer, then attach mirror. NOTE::: MAKE SURE THE METAL PAD IS GLUED IN CORRECT DIRECTION - UPSIDE DOWN DOES NOT WORK - (trust me I know - I did it)

The small metal piece is just glued to the glass , and is probably still in the mirror assembly. You can buy the "special " glue at any auto parts store.
Glue the metal piece on , then after it has fully dried you can slide the mirror back on.

My rear view mirror just fell off, it is tought to repair

mine did this and it is not tough to repair. You can get a kit to re-glue it at any auto parts store and it has the instructions which are simple, it is best to fix it when you can let the car set for a few hours. The cause is the glue gets old or the heat breaks it down and it comes loose.

2007 Optima sun visor is loose.

My 2007 Optima Driver's Side visor also had the same problem. I removed it with the screws under the plate at the base of the visor. Upon further inspection, the plastic inside the "hinge" had shattered inside the plastic sleeve. I am currently attempting some at-home super-glue-and-epoxy repair. If this works, I've saved myself a couple hundred bucks in repairs.
