You can unhook the fuel line and turn the key on. nearly everything will pump out the hose. there will be some left in the tank.
A fuel tank is held on with two bolts holding the ******** the tank. a ratchet wrench can take this loose. And the neck filler is held on with a hose clamp (screwdriver). Watch the fuel lines and the wiring when you unhook it.

How to drain the fuel tank on a 2001 mercury villager

In cases where the tank is not rusty, just water in fuel or fuel is a little dirty, they make a syphon pump you can get at any auto parts store for 10 dollars last one I purchased. its like a bicycle pump except has one plastic line coming out one side and another plastic line coming out other side. I take a one ounce lead fishing wait and zip tie to the end of one of the plastic lines.. you feed the line through where you would put your gasoline. you might have to do a little twisting and turning of the hose but I have had very little trouble getting the tube inside the gas tank,, with the lead weight it will insure the tube is on the very bottom of the gas tank and if you park on an incline hood facing downwards the fuel will run to front of tank and you can tell by bouncing the line and weight where it is in the gas tank.. you pump the pump a few times and once it starts going you will have a steady flow of fuel and you can empty the tank without removing or unplugging anything.

there is the pump, Walmart carries, last one I purchased was at AutoZone.

I filled up with gas drove 12 miles home, sit a day tried to start it the next day would not start and i notice the gas gauge seems to be stuck on empty

If you have a gas can try adding some in case you have been a victim of theft. If the tank seems full, then it is possible that water was mixed with the fuel.

Water and gas have different buoyancy rates and the float could have dropped.

How to get water out of a gas tank

If it is allot of water you will need to pull the tank, if the water is muddy you will need to pull the tank. If it is just a little water you can pump it out by using the in tank electric fuel pump by jumping the fuel pump relay and powering up the pump all the time. If the water has been in the tank very long you may have much more serious problems with parts like injectors being ruined from water deposits and rust. In some cases you can absorb the water by adding a pint of denatured alcohol to the tank, it is available from any hardware store.

On the 91 tracker i told you about the head in new the head gasket is new and all new parts

i have seen many different things do this but the most likely culprit is a bad gas station
most stations have water in there fuel but some have more than others

run the fuel tank real low like almost empty then add some gas line antifreze to soak up tthe excess water in tank then fill up at chain gas station like chevron

large gas stations have strict guide lines for how much water to fuel they are allowe to have in there tanks this is why from time to time you will see a gas station closed for renovations but there is little or no work going on inside it is out at the pumps
since they drain the tanks and slean the pumps out then re fill the tanks and need to prime the pumps

little stations are notorious for pumping water since they arent watched so closely like the chain stations

also if you know a bussy station shop there as they are less likely to have water since they have a high turn over of fuel and there tanks are allways geting run down

likely it is water in the fuel

gasline antifreze better knowen as Isopropyl alcohol it will combine with water and draw it out of your tank

Water in the gas tank

i would go up and get some HEAT they sell it at any auto store it treats up to 15 gallons of gas. HEAT takes the water and trapes it so that there isn't much water left into the tank and allowes the gas to run like it is supposed to..
