Question about 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Should there be a cover on the Cabin air filter?

On my 2004 Grand Prix I was getting water in the front passenger side floor. As I was looking for the source I pulled the underdash cover under the fan and saw that water was leaking out of the fan motor. I pulled down the motor and saw the cabin filter was soaked. When I popped the windshild trim of, there was the filter, NO Cover! So apparently water runs down the windshild and into the filter. I understand the rubber gasket on the WS trim should keep most of the water out, BUT apparently not all. Sooooo! is this a poor GM design or is there suppose to be a cover over the filter.

Thanks for considering this!
Regards,
Brian

I had the same problem with mine. If you remove the plastic molding at the wiper you will see a piece of rubber about 20"long that more than likely fell off. This piece of rubber is to divert the water to the drain hole to the side of the filter. I had to run a bead of silicone in the groove of the rubber and stick it back on. Hold in place with tape until silicone cures. This will keep the rubber from continuously falling off. I haven't had water since.

I had the same problem. If you will look inside the cabin filter area you will find the gasket that is supposed to keep the water from entering the filter. You will be able to put it back in place and this should solve your problem. You must remove the right cowl cover and you will see the problem.

2002 grand prix dual controls driver side works fine passenger side always hot. any ideas simple ones first

from my experience, it is usually caused by the cabin air filter needing to be replaced-in the engine compartment, on the passenger side immediately in front of where the passenger sits, there is a plastic door high up just below the windshield wiper blade. Try opening that door and remove the filter (looks a little like an air filter for an engine). Close the door and start it up, see if that fixed it. If not, it gets a little more complicated, involving checking vacuum lines behind the dashboard at the climate controller.

Water on floor passenger side after it rains and after air has been running 2000 grand prix

Ac hose leak?
leaking heater core?

Hint: it leaks when it RAINS

If it were related to the heater core or the AC drain, it would be leaking when it is not raining also, so those diagnoses are not logical.

The grand prix has a long history of floor leaks from seal failures around the air intake under the windshield cowling, where RAIN water runs in.

How do i take to cover off to change 07 air filter

The air intake should have 4 snaps on it to pull apart the air filter housing. Just unsnap, pull apart and replace. Also check and replace the Cabin Air Filter as this filter is not common with car owners. On the passenger side just below the windshield there will be a black plastic housing that will need to be removed, pull out that filter and replace.

i just replaced the cabin air filter on my 08 grand prix, had no airflow before, now with new filter airflow is increased 80%.

Feedback is appreciated.

Whenever it rains, my floor becomes soaked with water. It occurs predominately on the passenger side and floods all the way to the backseat. I know this problems is not any way associated with the air...

Contact you local GM dealer. They will have a few updated parts to sell you that will take care of this. I think there is a rubber diverter, possibly a plastic shroud, and possible a new cowl cover.
