Question about 1995 Nissan Quest
My 94 Nissan quest will not shift into overdrive unless I am slowly accelerating or going up a slight incline. It happened after I did a tune up and floored the accelerator to test acceleration. The trans seems to shift fine otherwise. I changed the fluid and filter because it was about time anyway and wanted to see if it would make a difference but it did not. The OD button on the shifter does work. Maybe the bands just need adjustment or a faulty sensor? Hope you can help. Thanks!
The overdrive on the Nissan Quest is ONLY designed to work when you're accelerating up an incline. So you have no issue. Read the owners manual, and you'll see that I'm right. Have a great day, and have fun on them inclines. ;)

SOURCE: Hyundai Overdrive wont engage
It is not suggested strip and twist wires. Better take it to an authorized service station to check what causes the problem. Is it OVERDRIVE SWITCH or CRUISE CONTROL MODULE faulty?
Over drive switch has three points. (5 to 4 selects "ON" or 5 to 6 selects "OFF").
Right click on following schematic, "save picture as" to a location in your PC so you have a ZOOM IN view.

you may have damaged the overdrive gear, a local transmission shop would be your best bet. for good troubleshoting and estimate.

Suggestion try to check if the release bearing of the transmission is still ok and check also the transmission oil level and if you need to change the transmission oil.

you can disconnect the main connector on drivers side top of trans it might help, but really needs to be diagnosed, and repaired, probably a faulty tcc solenoid..
