If the abs light is on you need to get this checked on a diagnostic machine to find out where the problem is. you will have to change whatever the diagnostic tells you as parts are not servicable.

Abs & brake light coming on randomally on 2002 dodge durango

Take it to Auto Zone or other parts store and have them run a free diagnostics scan. Then reply with the code. If no codes are present, you can start checking the front abs sensors. I dont believe there are rear sensors on these models.

The brakes made a funny chunking sound, not screaching, then the ABS light came on, then later the brakes light came on. How bad is it?

Could be bad enough.Abs is anti lock brakes not working.Possible a brake shoe is worn or loose.OR a piston is stuck.

I would have it checked out asap.

When i go to stop my brakes lock up in the rear, not everytime, but it causes me to slide forward. had someone look at it and they said "they think" it might be the abs pump & module. but...

Some one "looked" at it?? Did you check the brake fluid resevoir to see if it has the correct level? Does your brake pedal travel far down to the floor ? Did they take the wheels off and inspect your brakes? Generally an ABS unit makes your brakes NOT lock up. If it fails it runs in bypass mode (does'nt do anything). I would suspect you have worn out brake pads / shoes and possibly a bad caliper or wheel cylinder causing brake to bottom out on the rotor or inside the drums causing the lock-up condition. Go have your brakes inspected at a tire shop or oil change place. Monroe does a good job and won't rip you off.

ABS light and Traction control light stay on. Vehicle brakes ok, but pedal feels "grindy" intermittently when braking

That "grindy" feeling is when the ABS kicks in. It's only suppose to activate when you slam on the brakes and the wheels would normally lock. Instead, ABS will very quickly pump the brakes on and off, to prevent the wheels from locking (making a giant skid mark) and stopping the car more effectively. Generally this only happens if you slam on the brakes or loose traction due to rain or snow while braking. If this is happening often and the brake light is on, on the dash, then you need to get this checked out by a qualified mechanic ASAP.

1996 dodge ram 3500, abs brakes are locking up

is it the front or rear locking up? you really have to have this truck loaded (load valve under bed) before the back brakes come on and i think these are the same as my 1999 2500 where the rear is only abs, and not on the front..dumb design i know, but thats how it is...determining if its rear abs only and which axle is locking up will help pin point the problem...i put 100000 miles on my dodge since i got it in 2001 and i put 8 sets of pads on the front and just changed the rear lining and thats only because the rear wheel cylinder was leaking causing the rear brakes to lock up..

Brakes seem to lock up when roads are wet

First of all if your problem is only when it rains, get some tires for wet weather driving. Most cars have anti lock brakes now so you shouldnt have problems sliding to far. Your probably following to close to the car ahead of you. Give it the 2 sec rule. Put the car 2 sec in front of you. Another thing, Kia Rio's are light weight cars so if you slam on the brakes their is not a lot of weight on those tires to stop the car on a dime.
