MY 2006 SUZUKI FORENZA CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM

2004 Suzuki Forenza check eng light came on around 80,000 miles. Car runs fine. How do I re-set the light. I'll take my chances that nothing bad is occuring.

I think I have exactly the same problem. I have a 2006 Forenza. I've noticed my gas cap isn't locking like it's suppose to, but I didn't think much of it. However, for the last 4 days my engine light has been on, this after I checked the oil. I will definitely check to see if the gas cap is the problem. I've been so worried because I don't have much money to fix a big problem. Keeping my fingers crossed that a new gas cap will do the trick!

I have had the same problem recently. I did some searching on the internet and came up with nothing. I went out to my car and decided to take a look at the gas cap. I noticed that after turning it and hearing the clicks that are supposed to tell you it is tight, the cap came off again with no effort at all. I brought the gas cap to Advance Auto Parts and I found out that the spring mechanism inside the top of the gas cap was worn from use. This was causing the vapors to leak out inturn causing the check engine light to come on. I bought a replacement STANT gas cap (specifically for the 2006 Suzuki Forenza) for $9 and the light has been off for the past two weeks. The dealer wanted $80 to diagnose the problem and then another $30 if they needed to order a gas cap. So, I decided $9 was better to waste then $110 trying to figure out the problem. I hope this helps.

Go to autozone and have them do a diagnostics test on it its free and it will tell you whats wrong with your car, my car did this and it was something with the transmission. so it could be serious you never know.

SOURCE: check engine light is on. Car won't start.

You need to have the car's computer read with a scanner which will reveal the problem area or maybe the exact part. Don't just throw parts at it hoping for a fix. Good luck!

98 f-150 runs rough after it warms up. 170,000 miles. Check engine light been on for years. I haven't had it reset and read recently.

Why would you tell anyone that?

Check for codes

You know the check light is on & is where you start

There is no resetting a check light
All your doing is clearing all data needed to diagnose
any issues

Engine light came on, drove it around for a week and haven't notice any problem, still the light doesn't turn off

The check engine light is on to tell the driver the computer has found a problem that affects performance and emissions or fuel economy.
The computer would need to be scanned for trouble codes, the problem fixed, then the codes cleared to make the light go off.

Check engine light

Go to AutoZone and have them scan your car. There is no charge. They might be able to help you narrow down the problem. Next time you post a question please say a bit more than just "check engine light". If you have reposted this then I haven't seen it. :)

Engine quits oil light comes on,starts again no problem, runs about two weeks and does this again

Intermittent problems are the worst. My recommendation would be to visit a dealer and have them check for fault codes. There may codes in the memory that haven't yet triggered a check engine light. There are lots of possible causes for this condition, like a faulty or dirty throttle body. It would be a good idea to check your air filter element and make sure it isn't dirty, but unless it's badly caked with dirt I don't think that would cause it.

Has the BCM been identified as the root of the denali starting problem, mines just shut off in mid-turn and died new batt. not solution, lights come on no click just dead

No , I haven't heard of the BCM being the problem. I have heard that they have ground problems. Mostly in the engine compartment. Battery to body and engine, and body to engine.

I have a 2004 Buick Rendezvous, lately when I go uphill I loose engine power, I tried changing the oil and I took it for a terst drive, gave me no problems then an hour later I started going up hill again...

The oil change would have done nothing other than helping the engine last longer, but the poor running you describe sounds like a fuel problem. You do not mention any check engine light, but if the engine computer is scanned it might reveal a pending code since it ran poorly-that would provide a clue. Short of a pending code though, I'd check the fuel pump pressure and if you haven't replaced the fuel filter, do that too.
