Why does my fan always run intermittently? During traffic jams my fan will run about 25 times intermittently, and I check my temperature it is still normal?

sounds like problem with the temperature sensor or relay that controls the fan(if electric) check the sensor and relay one may need to be replaced.

Vauxhall Vectra overheating

Hi Patricia,
You say the thermostat might be faulty, remove it from the socket still with the wire connected, heat the base of the thermostat with boiling water or a small flame. Have some one to monitor the temp gauge to see if it rises. If not, replace it. If the fan still doe not cut in after replacement, the culprit could be the fan. Some time the fan installed is not efficient enough to cool the engine at traffic jams, replace the fan with one that has more blades. It would be more efficient and your temp should go down.
Btw, remove the connecting wire first before unscrewing the thermostat with a spanner when the engine has cooled down.

Temperature guage goes to high, but it doesn't appear that the van is overheating (no steam/fluid leaking) Radiator & thermostat were recently replaced. Guage will jump to high when idle, but...

FLUSH RADIATOR, HEATER CORE AND ENGINE BLOCK.ADD 50 / 50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER ALSO REPLACE RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF TEMPERATURE GAUGE STILL STAY HIGH THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR COULD BE FAULTY.

Have 2004 audi 2.0 fsi main fan keeps coming on when moving.

because of the shape of the car and temperature within the under bonnet,audi/ vw use the electric fan to maintain a closer tolerance of engine temperature.for maximum economy.so your main fan will come on more often than perhaps an older car that you may have owned.as changing the thermostat has shown no change.

The thermostat may be wearing out. A thermostat controls the engine temperature to keep it at a consistent temperature, The other fan will probably turn on if you turn on your Air Conditioner.

You don't say where you are.

You probably need a new thermostat. Cost for the part should be about $10. Labor to change it out should be $50 to $70, it takes less than an hour. Spring for fresh coolant, too.

The fans: the driver's side fan is activated by the A/C. I know, I know it's winter. But if you're running your defroster, you're running your a/c too. When the a/c is on, the fan can be on, too.
