I want to know how to replace the radiator fan motor on a 2001 PT Cruiser.

My 2001 Pt Cruiser is overheating after 5min of driving also! When idle in traffic on the highway. Very scary! Had thermostat replaced, battery replaced, radiator flushed to no avail!

I will try and remember as best as I can nazarine. You have to remove the four bolts holding the grill and slip it off. Then remove the radiator fasteners at the top s you can pull the radiator forard a little. The fan as best I can remember has four bolts holding it in place. Remove them and careful slip it out the top unplugging the wiring at the plug of course. The new one slips right back in with no problems and you just reinstall the radiator support hardware and grill and you are done. It's really fairly easy.

I know this seems too simple, but I do vehicle maintenance for people on the side and have ran across several faulty radiator caps that cause cars to overheat. When the coolant pressure builds up, it boils out around the cap and lowers fluid levels. It also prevents fluid from flowing to and from the overflow bottle which makes you think the level is fine if the overflow is still full. For under $7 it is usually a good thing to replace at least every couple of years. If that isnt it, check to see if the fan is coming on.

first If the fans arent coming on, thats where we re gonna start. Make sure the radiator and reservoirs are full,If they come on when the ac is on, turn the ac on and drive it. Does it still overheat? Yes or no. Yes? need more info. No? We need to check fuses and temp sensor. Keep in touch. I ll help you best I can from here.

2008 pt cruiser - check engine light came on, within minutes it started to "power down" and and died. Won't start. What could cause this? BTW have changed spark plugs, camshaft sensore, cranks

My PT did that when my timing belt broke. It cost $500.00 to replace it. If it is broken, be ready to have some motor work done. I had to have to values replaced at a cost of $900.00. If your timing belt is not broken then check the alternator and battery. I was riding down the road and my PT shut all the way down and would not start. I had to leave it beside the road. It was my alternator. It gave me no warning.

Have someone pressure test the cooling system - you likely have a head gasket leak

When i turn on my factory headlights and fog lights within a couple minutes my headlights turn off by themselves.

Your switch is overheating or your breaker is overloaded. Are fog lights factory? if not they are probably on the same circuit. If that is the case you probably need to step the breaker up about 5 amps.

Pt overheating within 5 minutes 2001 2litre auto how do I change cambelt thx mike

Engine overheating? Check:
1. Coolant level at cold
2. Coolant leak check for loss of, during "not hot" running condition. (water pump, hoses)
If above is ok, I would replace the thermostat. It's inexpensive and easy enough to do.

Cam belt not addressed in this response...

Hope this helps with the overheating problem... Good luck!
