When driving it sometimes randomly shuts off and will not fire back up. i come back later and it fires right up.

Sounds like something is getting too hot, when the ignition coil or ignition module get too hot they sometimes quit working until they cool down you don't say what kind of engine you have but most ignitions modules are mounted in the side of distributor also some of these k have it bolted in the driver side inner fender wall close to the cabin and most auto parts stores will test it for free and the coil just follow the center cable in distributor and is in the opposite end of it.i hope you find this of help let me know if it is

    Same thing happens to me (1990 F-250 5.0L 5 spd) before it felt like a misfire but now my truck shuts right off in gear and after about 5 seconds will cut back in. Won't start directly after but let it sit for about 10 minutes. Fires right up and is sometimes good for 3 or 4 days, then does it again.

back firing to air cleaner , hits of gross timing of cam , burned intake valves.

tail pipe backfire can be what is called muffler explosions super load POP sounds, and is engine gross raw fuel lander there, mostly from leaking injector(s)
check engine lamp never glows, running or just before stall.
scan the PCM yet see stored DTC errors. (like CKP fails)

no engine told so hard to be more exact. above is generic.
ASE generic , gas engines,
if stalls driving can a fast right foot save the stall and if yes, do you still have full engine power.?

the 3.0L has a 2 cam timing belt(plus pump)
that fails easy, it slips and timing is lost !
and backfires every which way .
it is a 60k mile service point.
this 3.0L same belt runs water pump and you never want it to slip.bad belt too.
V6, 1 cam per head free running engine. (no bent valves) like the DOHC will do. 12v 6x2 heads no 24valve .

but no VIN or engine told.

Sounds like a fuel filter problem, or fuel pump. Also have you ever had the injectors checked? I had the problem you've described and found both the fuel filter needed replaced, and the injectors cleaned and adjusted.

03 mitsubishi eclipse 2.4 4 cyl miss fire on 2 and 4 cyl going by the firing order they are not getting fuel the car was running fine shut it off went back 2 hours later and that's when it started...

If you know for a fact the injectors are not opening, you would need to check for voltage and a ground signal from the computer. The computer grounds the injectors to open them based on the crank and cam sensors.

1998 Buick Skylark randomly dies. Checked Fuel pump its good. checked spark plugs there good. have good fire. checked fuel injectors there good. it will run fine for a couple days then it randomly shuts...

Im thinking you have random faults this could be down the the wiring. or the ecu connection. i would first check the ecu connection. you will need to remove the negative lead off the battery before removing the ecu plug, check its pins and plug any green colors on the pins clean off, wiring the most common problem is the wiring over the engine itself over time the wire crack and cause a short by contacting each other or the earth, this is not an easy job as you need to remove the tape on the wires to find the cracks and splits. then repair them and re seal the cables. hope this helps

What is rundam misfire

Hi,

To my knowledge, random misfire could be described as failure of any of the sparkplugs to fire in an unpredictable manner. A misfire is any of the plugs not firing but in a given time period, predictable. Random misfire on the otherhand comes and goes, sometimes it misfires, sometimes not. This is often an indicator of a loose electrical problem which is intermittent in nature.

The error code P0300 pertains to the above described random misfire or in some instances multiple misfire. The last digit (except when zero) wold points to which cylinder is not firing.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
