Take out the spark plugs and put ONE squirt of engine oil in each cylinder. That might give you enough compression for the engine to start.

After overheating my 2007 cl550 wont start

Hi Bradley an overheat can be serious and unfortunately can damage the cylinder head gasket, piston rings and pistons leading to poor compression and a non start, Without coolant the engine becomes super heated best advice first thing to do is a compression test on each cylinder diesel engines require at least 350 psi petrol engine at least 200 psi hope this helps Richard

have the fault codes read to determine if any sensors are out of parameters from the engine rebuild. If you did not get a rebore and you used existing pistons the smoke may be from excessive ring clearance and worn ring grooves in the pistons . I am not a believer in wearing in as all wear only gets worse (not better) but in this case may be some normal use will allow the rings to reseal in the worn ring grooves over time

06 dodge nitro 2.8 diesel wont start but will start on ether every time , it wont start hot or cold unless a squirt of ether is used.,

First off, ether is not the way to go at all! You'll end up messing up the piston rings with continuous use. Also with using ether engines tend to get "addicted" to it (its the only way they will start after some time as the rings get burnt and compression under normal cranking isnt enough)

The fact you can start the engine on ether means fuel prob isnt the problem. I would have said the problem was probably your pre-heating system and to check your plugs, wiring and fuses for the pre-heating system but the fact hot start doesnt work either doesnt make sense.

How long have you been using ether? If it has been for an extended period then I have a feeling the piston rings might be shot and full compression cant be reached during cranking and the ether just kickstarts your engine into starting. Any smoke out the tailpipe?

I would still check the glow plugs.

Hope this helps in some way

93 Lexus es300 white smoke coming from exhaust

White smoke indicates oil is getting into the combustion chamber either by worn piston rings or worn valve guides.
A compression test on all cyclinders can determine if the pistion rings are worn, The garage mechanic can carry out this test for you.
replacing piston rings is a major engine overhaul, other worn parts should be replaces at this time too. A refurbish engine swap may be a cheaper option unless you are can DIY.

1999 Maxima: have to hold gas pedal to floor to keep car runnin...

Blue smoke means your oil is leaking past your piston rings. It is being compressed with the air and fuel and burning which causes the blue smoke. Odds are is your piston rings are worn out and your not getting proper compression so your not getting power. basically your motor has to be rebuilt. You can also try engine oil restore that you can get at any local auto parts store. It is supposed to seal up piston rings and restore compression and power. Try it first. Your other option is bad fuel filter not letting you get enough gas. Clogged injectors, bad plugs and wires. There are many things that can cause this situation. Start with your cheaper options first.

1990 318i engine no compression yet timing chain ok cam and lifters working pistons going up and down has spark 0 compression wont start

I suggest you bring the pistons to TDC, one at time on the comprssion stroke and do a "cylinder leakage test". Put compressed air into the spark plug hose and try to detect where the air is going. If you have the piston exactly at TDC, it will stay there when you put conpressed air in the hole, if it's off a little it will push the piston down. If you have the valve cover off you can watch the valves to determine if you have the pistons on the compression stroke. You should be able to buy a fitting from an auto parts store that will thread into the spark plug hole. If not take an old spark plug and bust the guts out of it and weld a pipe fitting to it to adapt your air compressor hose.

Make sure sure timing belt marks and distributor timing are correct. Top dead center, piston on the compression stroke (Both valves closed) rotor pointing to number one spark plug wire.

In all looses power while driving, turn off the key and back on and starts to run right again.

let me guess 305 and scottsdale?....could be silverado....

it sounds like your trucks fuel filter could be plugged.....when this happens you wont get enough fuel to the TBI and it wont have the necassary ponys in reserve.

"change the fuel filter" make shure that it is getting enough fuel/.....

if your ride does not get better.....it could be that your engine has lost compression.....due to worn cylinder walls and worn piston rings.

when this happens it starts eating the oil.....and will be powerless and smokey.......

try changing the fuel filter first..

....and you might try running some "RESTORE" engine treatment ......"BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE DESPERATE......IF YOU DONT FEEL CONFINDENT DONT DO IT"

hope this helps...

Piston rings

hmmm, suggest you do a cylinder compression check to see if ring job is holding pressure.
if tester tip gets wet you either have faulty oil rings or bad valve stem seals but compression test fail is obvious ring failure.no or low compression = no start.
