Question about 2003 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

Idle Issues I have an 03 Neon SXT. When I pull up to a light, the idle with go down to 750ish and then it drops down to around 500. Would anyone know what to check? I've replaced IAC, PCV Valve, Re-flashed PCM, checked vacuum pressure, and there are no trouble codes. I'm running out of ideas. Could the TCM be the problem? Any other suggestions would be great!

Its an automatic. I did adjust the hard stop so more air would flow in but it still did it. I took it to the local Dodge dealer and they said they couldnt do anything to fix it. Bunch of ****.

Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same car with the exact same problem. I replaced the iac yesterday. It drove smoother but still did it at stops.

    It is driving me crazy.

Is this an auto or manual trans?? if auto maybe torque converter clutch no fully released?? Have you adjusted the idle speed hard stop by the factory procedure?? Have you cleaned the throttle valve?? I really doubt the TCM is at fault.

2005 dodge neon - revs high in park nuetral and tough to push break pedal down. mechanic doesn't know what it is. Anyone have this problem resolved before? Thanks

sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak. When you lose vacuum the brake booster doesn't operate right. You need to go too a different mechanic. Could be the idle selonoid staying open or even a bad brake booster or vacuum hose came off.

My 1998 Dodge Neon manual transmission DOHC idles high. WHY??

Without actually seeing the car, I would first look at the linkage and springs from the accelerator to the fuel intake. Could be as minor as dust build up or loose cable. Start with that, should that not fix the problem, try adjusting the idle set screw. Turning it clockwise will increase idle, counter clockwise will decrease. Try to have idle around 500-600rpm.

2002 Neon - car idle rough with the A/C on. Have changed spark plugs, air filter, etc. and still runs rough. Took it to a shop and there are no fault codes. The problem only happens when the car sits in...

YOUR ENGINE IS IDLING LOW.MOST CARS WHEN YOU TURN ON AC THE PCM WILL INCREASE IDLE SPEED TO KEEP ENGINE FROM STALLING OUT.I WOULD HAVE THE IDLE SPEED CONTROL CHECK OUT AT THE DEALERSHIP.THEY WOULD HAVE TO ADJUST YOUR IDLE SPEED.SINCE MOST IS PCM CONTROLLED.
