Question about Chrysler LHS

2 Answers

I have a 1997 Chrysler LHS with a 3.5 automatic trans. Last week it just stoped. It will crank over but will not start. So far I've replaced the fuel pump and filter and the coil pack and still nothing. I figured that fuel spark crank = running enging. any help would be great thanks

Hi,

Other than the ignition system, you may also want to check your alarm, security and immobilzer as those by their very nature and purpose will cause no spark/no start. Try checking the various connectors of the alarm module. This would be in either the driver side or passenger side kick panel. You can try temporarily grounding the light green/orange wire which would disarm the alarm.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Check the cap and rotor and see if they're deteriorated. Inside the distributor cap you'll see six contact points around the inner edge. The rotor spins on a center axis and contacts each point on its way around - this triggers the wire that corresponds with the point to fire its plug. If the points are corroded or dirty, you can clean them with a toothbrush and electrical contact cleaner. Inspect the rotor as well - the edge of it should be ridged like the edge of a quarter. If it's smooth, it's probably worn too much to fire properly.

1997 chrysler lhs turns over but no spark. already changed Cam pos. Sensor and Coil block

Try the crank sensor this is the sensor most likely to cause this not the cam sensor. To get to the crank sensor you will have to jack up the passager side of the car and the sensor is located on the transmission bell housing about 3/4 of the way up on the trans were it connects to the engine.(all on the passager side of the trans) It has a 3 wire plug and one 10mm bolt that holds it in. Hope this helps

Motor

Determine if the engine is getting fuel, then check for spark, and last but not least make sure you have compression. Which engine do you have? It's hard to help you diagnose and help you get back on the road with out this important piece of information.
