define a faulty blend door or motor. do you mean a faulty blend 134 and r12 mixed? or a door not opening and or closing? that what it seems like to me. or motor what motor is failing? Please so far you've been the most helpful so far. you see raising six kids on one income isn't easy at all but God has blessed me with two hands and two feet. I know I can do this with the right so please help me with this I know I can follow instruction what to do first is there a way to bypass a heater control valve and or a climate control you see both lines are doing what they are supposed to do , one is ice cold while the other is hot as it should be. the clutch is engaged on the compressor the fans are blowing but it seems like the hotter the car runs the hotter the air blows.

2.7 to about three pounds of freon.

  • joey-dee71 Jul 28, 2008

well I was also told it might be a high pressure switch under the air filter, If i bypass that should it blow cold air then? and how can I get to that door , your talking about , can I open and close it manualy?, If you can call me at (434)996-9991 Joey Dee

1994 Concorde 3.5, blows hot air. Tried reseting/diag mode where you hold top first two, and fourth (skip a/c). Come out with a 32 code, which I think the mechanic (who fixed it for awhile) said was the blend door actuator. He said it default's hot. He reset it somehow so the a/c would work again, but since a battery failure it went kaput again. Trying to figure out how to default it back.

    Thanks for any suggestions . . .

Too much oil will cause warm blowing from the ac. The more oil the less cool. Evaporator, warm one end cold the other is blocked high side. Almost sure it's the expansion valve needs to be replaced

Okay, if 3 pounds works for you, then don't change it on my behalf. We just want the gauges to read about 20-40 lbs on the low side, and 175-275 on the high side. The fact that you have such a temp difference on the condenser is proof that the system is very close to working as it should. The "blend" door is used to mix the correct amount of "cold" air and "hot" air to the desired interior tempurature. It is controlled by the user or Automatic Climate Control to actuate the "blend door motor". If you have Auto Climate Controll, you can use the diagnostic to see if that motor is working. If not, you can certainly hear the door and motor moving as you change the desired temp in the car, provided it's working. Hope this helps...Mike

By the way, the numbers that I gave before are related as in lowest low to lowest high and highest low to highest high. HmmmmI hope that's not too confusing....accordianman

It'snot your Hi pressure switch. The door is not moving properly for some reason; Mechanical sticking or bad door motor...accordianman

My land rover is always threatening to overheat had pressure test done they did the test for blown head gasket it blows cold air I changed thermostat there are no leaks anywhere please help 2002 land rover...

What blows cold air? The heater? Sounds like a radiator problem. I'd have someone flush the cooling system if it has not already been done. Could also be a bad or going bad Coolant pump, unless it has been replaced. It might be smart to do both at the same time. If the coolant pump is bad, it could explain no circulation of hot coolant through your heater coil.

Start up, blows black smoke. Been sitting for about a year.

Any oil that was in the head will seep into the piston head over time and this will blow black, but should stop after 1 min.
If this happens over and over with starting every day its a bad seal on your piston rings, this has nothing to do with the air filter.
If your car has sat for that long you need to change the oil asap as oil and gas will go bad after only a few months gas 4-5 months oil will go bad after 3 months or if it has gotten very hot.
Change oil and test to see if your still blowing black if so go get a compression test done that will tell you if your rings are gone.
Ring jobs can be very costly, hope this is not the case.

Where do we get the answers

There are numerous reasons why cars run hot so I will list some so that you can do the checks and eliminations

1 Have a compression test done to determine if there is a problem with the head gasket or cracked head/s

2 have a coolant pressure test done to determine if there is a leakage

3 Have a flow test done on the radiator to check for blocked cores

4 check the condition of the cooling fins on the cores ( flaking fins will not transfer heat

5 test thermostat for correct operation.6

6 check condition of the radiator hoses especially the bottom hose that can suck together and reduce water flow.

7 If you have a viscous fan hub have it replaced as it needs to drive the fan especially at lights and when going slow

8 check for blocked cat converter or exhaust system

9 check for vacuum leaks allowing the air/fuel mixture to run too lean

10 check ignition timing ( too far retarded- should be around 10-12 degrees advanced)

11 check quality of fuel being used ( octane rating should be no less than 91

12 check for dragging brakes

13 check for correct transmission operation ( od selection if auto)

14 check for load and speed operations

15 check correct tyre pressure and sizes.

16 check drive belts (Alternator ,fan, water pump)for condition and correct tension)

You asked what makes your car run hot== well all these things individually or combined can do that

1998 taurus windows keep fogging up. a/c blows cold then warm

make sure your heater core is in good condition this could be done with a compression test, if that is fine i would make sure the climate control switch is working proper and not shorting between cold and hot

My fan does not come on and blow however the rear does

This is common you will need to check the front blower resistor, this is located under the dash on the passenger side on heater box next to blower motor. the wiring plug also needs to be looked at. the plug on some of these heats up and starts to burn and in turn the connector needs replacing and the resistor also.
If the connector is good then replace the resistor and that will solve the blower problem. As far as the rear unit not blowing hot air , make sure the coolant is full and if the coolant if full then you will need to take a look at the rear unit blend door. this is the door that opens and closes to control hot or cold air, if the coolant if full in radiator then blend motor may be bad, testing will need to be done to see if its the door or the motor that controls the door. good day

Car a/c some time not blowing cool air

Many possibilities' First- you may be iceing up. That is when the temp sensor is to far into the condenser. Pull it out a small amount at a time. Good hint is the amount of water drained on to the ground when you park it.
Second is - you may be low on freon causing the compressor to shut off when it's sensor tells it "not to run dry". Then the freon drains back to the pump and it starts all over again.
Third is - the compressor may have a problem making it run hot. There is a sensor for that too, and will turn it back on when it cools off.

Not all of these are in every system, so with out more manufacturers info, (factory, or aftermarket)it's a generic answer.

Air or heat only blows on high and now ac will blow cold for a while then hot air for a long time. recharged ac but no better

The reason it only blows on high is the blower resister bad..As far as the a/c when it blows hot is the compressor still lock in..If not it could be a bad connection to the compresser or a bad a/c clutch

When I turn on the air conditioner, it blows really hot air. also, when i set the alarm, the horn does not sound.

As far as the A/C goes. Does the A/C compressor turn on?? if so, than you may have a MODE door problem in the air box. Do all heater knobs turn freely or is one of the binding up?? I have seen the MODE door gears falling off and sticking the MODE door on hot setting. Test knobs for movement. If A/C compressor is not coming on, than you may have a leak and all freon leaked out or it could be just a simple thing like fuse or relay. Test to see if A/C compressor comes on. As far as the alarm goes, you need to switch your security from silent to non silent mode. Here is how its done. Hold BOTH lock and unlock buttoms together for about 5 seconds. (the directionals or sidelamps will flash)That will switch the alarmmode to NON SILENT and back to SILENT if you need to.
