1 Answer

1994 Toyota Pick-up will not start.

Truck will only click when attempting to start. the battery seems to be wroking fine as the lights are bright. Believe it is the starter, but want to run my a few experts since I'm no mechanic. Are there other possibilities I should check before replacing the starter?

I currently own a 1985 Toyota pickup that seems to burning out starters I have replaced it 4 times, once changed it does fine but then after a short while you have to tap on the starter to get it to start. someone told me that it has a starter relay mounted on the passenger side fender up toward the firewall that could be the problem but I call an auto place and they say they have never heard of this part is this possible, my friend changed his with an old one from another toyota and his runs fine now. is this part called a starter relay or is it something else/

Same problem for years on 89 pu. It only happens intermittenedly and is usually fine the next day without doing anything. I have changed the starter, battery, checked connections and I'm still stumped.

94 toyota pickup.  used to have to turn key off and on several times and wait for it to kick it.  This began taking longer and longer until it will only rarely start now.  Cleaned battery terminals. no luck.  battery seems fine and is less than two years old.

My Tundra Starts Intermittently

You have a defective starter solenoid, the heavy contacts are burned in side the solenoid.

what lights? headlights? dash lights? I would check the connections. If its the starter usually you will hear a heavy "click" when you turn the key.

1994 toyota estima intermittant start problem. makes click

This could be a grounding problem. Check all battery connections. Also check motor to body ground strap for corrosion. Check battery to motor ground and battery to body ground. Even if the ground looks allright it can be corroder underneath, so you have to take the ground bolt off to clean it.

You have a solenoid on your starter. The solenoid is what you most likely hear clicking. The battery seems to be fine from your info. The starter can be repaired with a new solenoid. It really depends on who you go to and what the charge is to repair. The battery sends power to the solenoid, the solenoid kicks power to the starter to turn the starter for your engine to start. Good Luck

Clicks when attempting to start

If it is just one click per attempt, it may be a bad solenoid on the starter or fire wall relay
If it rapid clicking, it is probably a low battery charge.
Turn on your head lights and check for brightness, leave them on and attempt to crank engine, if the lights go dim, the battery is probably dead. If they stay bright, one of the solenoids ( relays) is probably bad.
