How do I remove the alternator. It is an east west engine. v6

Hi Rod:
- Remove serpentine belt.
- Unplug/disconnect wires from alternator. It's a good idea to label them. Taking a picture or two also can help.
- Unbolt alternator.
- Remove.... some vehicles make this awkward by having other bits in the way.
Be patient and keep track of what you're doing since you'll have to reverse the procedure to put the new one in.

Change alternator

The car should be turned off it should be cool. Then follow this procedure. Park the car on flat surface.Block the back wheels of the car from getting rolled because the front portion of the car has to be jacked up.But before doing that disconnect the black wire of battery. Its necessary for safety reasons. Then raise the car by placing jack under the cross-member.Then after this the passenger side wheel has to be removed.Once the passenger side wheel is removed you will see the belt.Locate the tensioner to remove the belt. The tensioner is located under the alternator. Loosen the bolt with a socket wrench and this will loosen tension on the belt. Take the belt off the alternator pulley and the air conditioner pulley. Unbolt and remove the tensioner to make proper space to remove the alternator. After that there are few more parts that are to be removed to remove the alternator. So remove the air conditioner ,its fitted by two bolts easily seen.Remove this bolts. No need to remove the ac wires or any ac lines.Just lift the ac unit out and then remove the alternator cable from its back. You will also have to remove a nut bolt holding the wire.So remove that nut also, this will help to loosen the alternator wire. Then carefully wiggle and pull the wiring harness to the voltage regulator at the back of the alternator. Now the alternator can be removed. But its connected to the mounting bracket. The alternator is fitted by 3 bolts on mounting bolts.Once you remove this bolts the alternator can be lifted out from the bottom of the car. -------------- This is the procedure to remove the alternator. But for no problem while fitting the new alternator,i suggest you mark the location of each part with marker so that you dont face any kind of problem while refitting this parts again. You can also take a picture of each part before removing it.so that will help for any kind of alternator problem in future also.Do it slowly ,carefully and at day time ,so this will give you exact access of the parts.---------------Thanks.Helpmech.

Removing alternator on a 2006 ford fusion v6

the alternator probably is accessable from the underside of the car without removing the compressor, which would require extensive knowledge and expensive equipment. the best thing to do is purchase a repair manual. this inexpensive investment has detailed procedure and pictures to help you tackle this repair.

Need a picture diagram on the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alternator

The best visual you have is your vehicle! Take a picture if you need to.
Write down what went where before you start. Check stickers under the hood and make sure there is a diagram for the serpentine belt, if not draw a picture and make your own before taking it off. Attachmnent bolts are usually very different and nearly impossible to to get wrong. Electrical connections are generally of the plug in type. any that are not you can label with tape. Most important is to disconnect battery positive lead before starting the job. Replacing it only when all other mechanical work is finished. Also, alternators are expensive...make sure (by testing) that the alternator is bad, before spending time and $!!!

How do I take off the Alternator bracket off do I need to remove the Alternator first? if so how ?? Is there a diagram? Thanks

Here is a picture showing the location of the nine bolts securing the bracket (this engine is out of the car). It is possible to remove the bracket with the alternator in situ, if you have air tools and just about every extension and off-set available. Otherwise, removal of the alternator is usually necessary.
