Yeah. I have the same problem, I can noticed it when the engine is warm, on drive and much louder when A/c is on. According to scheduled manual, at 75k miles if its noisy, get valve clearance adjustment?

My 2004 nissan frontier makes a knocking sound when accelerating or when cold. It has been serviced regularly and has 74,000 miles on it. Does it have anything to do with the knocking sensor?

The knock sensor picks up vibrations from detonation and sends a signal to the engine computer, which then adjusts the igntion timing [ retards advance ] to correct it. You can read the operation of the sensor with a full function scanner, if it's working then you have to look for a physical problem with the motor causing the konck.

2001 Mazda Protege 1.6L automatic. Knocking pinging noise

Solution 1 would be to diagnose the problem of the low comp in 2& 3 and solve that issue. I would of started w the timing belt 1st. If that didn't solve it,ck head gasket, valves, rings. CK for oil & coolant mixing. Good Luck
